Welcome to my (original) little corner of the virtual world.
This site is mostly out of date now, as i don't spend much time updating it (other than when i have a new piece of writing to upload).
My main net.presence is to be found at my LiveJournal page, since my assimilation into the LJ Borg (though i tend to treat el-Jay like a newsgroup anyway).
This page remains more of an archive of writing and earlier thoughts and will change little from its original form, the introduction of which begins as follows:
Yes, this is another self-indulgent personal web page, created for the sole purpose of letting people i have never met know that i exist and having others read what i'd previously only written for myself, as well as whatever i happen to have something to say about.
i started this up back in 1997, mainly so i could have a place to put my Bad Goth Poetry and other ramblings, and as a small contribution to the human face of the internet, to help make the web a place for people, rather than just a corporate marketplace.
As for myself, i am a thirtysomething year old male, hailing from beautiful, gloomy Melbourne, Australia.
My main passion is for the Punk and Gothic scenes, though i wouldn't really label myself as either (not elegant enough to be goth, too orderly to be punk). While i'm not consciously aiming to limit myself to any particular stereotype (well, no more than everyone else), these have been my main influences for the past decade and are an integral and inseparable part of who i am today.
As well, i have a passionate interest in human rights and social justice issues, and a desire to do something of value with my life beyond making money and climbing the career ladder. If you have found this site, i assume it's from a link i've left somewhere i've been, or something i've mentioned within these pages, so i would guess you probably have similar interests to some of mine. If so, i hope you find something here of interest for you.
This page has a few bits of poetry of mine (well, quite a few actually, but i figure they might as well be out there for people to read instead of mouldering away in the bottom of a drawer) and other bits of writing, for which i make neither claims of greatness nor apologies, some links to other sites which are of interest to me and hopefully others, and general rants and opinions about whatever. For those who like a visual reference point, i've added some photos. These are few as i don't possess a scanner, but hopefully more will be added soon.
i've also left in the pages of web rings, though i haven't kept up to date with my inclusion in most of them. However, as far as i know the rings listed still operate, so they may still take you to visit other interesting sites and interesting people.
At this point i used to have a little paragraph inviting people to drop me an e-mail and share their own thoughts, as a means of encouraging communication and meeting new people, but to be honest, the amount of random junk mail i get from inconsiderate cretins trying to sell me something i don't want has meant that any e-mail turning up from someone i don't know saying "hi" or "your web page" etc gets summarily deleted and never read. So yet another avenue of communication gets spoiled in the holy pursuit of the almighty dollar. To all spammers out there: a pox on you and your tiny greedy pathetic minds.
