Drew Springer was born in Oklahoma on January 3rd, 1984. He nearly died of a diaphragmatic hernia. Over the next two years of his life he had several more brushes with death (bouts of pneumonia, gallstones, etc) and now lives a healthy life, albeit sans gallbladder.
Drew's inerest in art began at an early age, and he never stopped drawing since. His main interests now include the bizarre and gothic, as well as portraits and humorous comic strips. He now focuses primarily on comic books when not distracted by his art education at the University of Central Oklahoma. He cites as his main influences Edward Gorey, Jhonen Vasquez, Humberto Ramos, Scott McDaniel, and Kelley Jones.
Drew began writing in high school when he became the regular writer of the DC Anthology Batman series (as well as several other DCA projects). During and after his run on Batman, Drew wrote an independent serialized story called (Im)mortal, which he quit after 3 issues but is planning to rewrite and finish as a novel one of these days. He now also writes short stories and the occasional poem, often experimenting with different styles.
Music is another hobby of Drew's, but due to a lack of talent he will likely never produce anything of his own (though he is quite good at the french horn). He likes many kinds of music, especially goth, classic rock, acid rock, and industrial. This love of music inspired him to create the Music LiveJournal in which he reviews CDs.
