Soon after I left the stone gray Angels.
After I sent their message to the sea,
And after I witnessed the dead miracle.
--Slowly upon me there came a dawning
and I could not help but feel a slight less pride,
as I trudged through the muddy plains and dry marsh.
For I heard amocking laugh--
--filled with as much pleasantness as an unleashed demon.
Echoing and resounding off invisible walls.
I spat in its direction
and when it turned its back and faced me
I wore a false smile and continued in my direction.
"Lo!" Came its bounding voice
sounding with all the beauty of a mud puddle,
but the vileness of a God to recompense.
"Thou hast crossed my path twice now.
Each time with an unspoken hiss
and hidden discourtesy."
I took now, from this Demon, a full glance,
taking note of his height and smooth enticing features.
A vile, though innocent and welcoming, smile.
"Surely you have mistaken,
I know not of any hiss or couresy lacking--
--Hidden or apparent."
The Demon decreased the distance between him and I
--within breath's stance--
and spoke to me in a very endearing voice.
"Lies do not suit you well, mate.
you would find yourself in better footing had I your respect.
but you offer only imitation."
Now, within a short pause, the Demon eyed me.
Absorbing my image with most care,
and at this moment I felt something new.
From nothing a love was born--
--at our weakest moment.
Then my breath was shortened.
Flushed with warmth and desire.
One last look stolen and I turned to leave,
wishing him an utterance of luck.
