The Techniques

Massage is an expressive language of touch and tissue manipulation.  As with any form of communication there are basic terms, which make up the whole structire of everything else that follows.

To give you an impression of what massage is, we have included illustrations.

  Pounding.  Firstly notice that although this looks like a fist, the hand is actually relaxed... which means that the sound it makes will be more like clapping, as the fingers knock together. (A thudding noise is more likely to be the sound of a fist!)  This is used for deep/ dense tissue movement, such as on the thighs.
