| a wee bit of the future: news on zero degrees kelvin |
| zero degrees kelvin is a scientifically incorrect statement. the temperature describing term kelvin (unlight fahrenheit or centigrade) implies the notion degrees afterwards. the uneducated belief that one can simply say zero degrees kelvin is simply bogus. the band, however, is neither uneducated nor bogus. although zero kelvin attempts to put themselves off as a straight college pop band, their music exists on a much more impressive plane. jenn mccloskey's airy yet intelligent vocals make the band seem rather more sophisticated than the pop genre they hail from. arne fleisher's simple, yet moving and oldy somber guitar work is a bit more than you might expect out of casey kasum's top 40. | ![]() |
| the pre studio demo (just getting to know you, you'll be seeing more of us in the future disc) contains three songs and is offered, free of charge, from their web page. the lack of production does take it's toll. the drum track on the first song is slightly off the guitar, some ambient noise filters in rare sections of the disc, along with some other quirks, remind you of the first time you tried releasing a demo. these problems are meager compared to what the band offers. the first song, touch me now, featured on collegeweb's sonic abyss first group promotional record. the other two are collectively more dark sounding, the second of which is simply acoustic guitar and vocals. although zero degrees kelvin reminds one of the early acoustic pretenders, the description is not quite as simple as that. it's a bit more dreary and an less themed. more personal, even. |
| unsigned and up for grabs, all three of the tracks on their prestudio promotional disc are quite impressive, dispite their lack of production expertise. i will be watching zero kelvin myself. |
