Started in the summer of 2003, and completed sometime around November of the same year. The guitar is a black Ibanez steel-string,
and this was comissioned by a close family friend.

--The work was entirely free-drawn, and done in the spirit of
spontanaeity, using paint-markers for the sketch outlines, and acrylic
craft paint (for non-toxicity and ease of use) for the rest.
--To sort of keep me motivated and inspired, I kept to the following
themes: The Greatful Dead, the five elements, color (yeah, an obvious
one), and spirals. I like to thing this is very spiral informed.
:P
--The gold outlines were done in permanant paint-marker. I found this
ideal, because it lays down flat, and the metallics are nice and
opaque.
--It was finished using polyuerethane, because the paint had to be
layered very thickly.
--Even though it was tough, and at times frustrating work, I'd love to
do another free-drawn project like this again...on something other than
a guitar.
--The client has informed me that the sound quality is great, and that
he has performed with this guitar several times.
