 Alice in Wonderland
Here is a preview of the movie: http://www.hulu.com/watch/85149/movie-trailers-alice-in-wonderland---teaserIt's going to be directed by Tim Burton, so naturally has Johnny Depp. I didn't see another post of this, and Tim Burton is probably the most uhm... consistantly watched director on this webist(probably). It seems like it will be pretty cool. I really like the contacts that Johnny Depp is wearing.

 Re: Alice in Wonderland
I'll go and see it, but TBH I haven't found most of the last few Burton films that entertaining, and I'm tired of seeing Helena and Depp in every single film released for the last decade.

 Re: Alice in Wonderland
The trailer makes it look like this is going to be The Hatter in Wonderland instead of Alice in Wonderland. I've got this feeling that the Hatter's going to have a bigger role than he should.

 Re: Alice in Wonderland
I have that feeling too it's sort of like a spidey sense, but the hatter seems to be the only actually "famous" actor. However I don't believe it's actually Alice in Wonderland, but a what happened afterwards... thing. I guess a prequel though that sounds somwhate inaccurate. Maybe more of an epilogue?

 Re: Alice in Wonderland
Has anyone watched this film? I'm a little afraid I'll be disappointed... and I'm not sure I want to watch it...

I'm not a fan of Tim Burton- it's all too cutsey and just really everything thats cliche about Goth.No judgement on those who appreciate Mr Burton's work- just personal taste. I hated the Willie Wonka movie and think I'd hate this - gonna give it a miss. I saw Daybreakers the other day and that was an entertaining film- the holocaust subtext was not very subtle- but still, a thoroughly enjoyable film.

 Re: Alice in Wonderland
It's ok for me if you don't like tim burton, for me it's the opposite anyway. I like the ideas behind his works, even if I have to admit I didn't like Willie Wonka, I really couldn't understand what was new to Burton about that, I mean... it's the same story as in the film in the 70es... that's why I'm a little afraid Alice in Wonderland will disappoint me to... I'm open to explanation if someone has one, however

 Re: Alice in Wonderland
Tim Burton has too often had GORGEOUS-looking movies that I had SO looked forward to seeing, but that, after half-an-hour, proved to be SOOOOO disappointing and such a let-down!
Cool special effects and great cinematography cannot, by themselves, compensate for good writing and solid story-telling skills,in BOTH of which Burton is seriously deficient.

 Re: Alice in Wonderland
I don't think all of Burton's films were just about special effects, at least that's not what I liked. What I'm looking for when I'm reading, when I'm listening to music and of course when I watch a film is a meaning under the surface. I do not like most of horror films because I think they just trhough you in the face fears you already know you have and special effects there distract me from finding a meaning of any sort, so I just pass. But Burton has something to say, it may be hidden, it may be allegoric but he has something to say, at least to me. Let's take edward scissorhands as an example. To me it's an open accuse to mainstream culture and their seeing beauty only in coloured and joyful things. Edward is different, edward scares them, but their hypocrisy make them show they accept it although they are just looking for a way to push him away as far as possible. His a good fellow just wishing to be with others, just wishing to be like the rest of the world, but he just isn't. And the epilogue makes one understand that beauty is deeper than just joy and colour, that it has more to it, that you have to look for it and be open to see it where it really is. Just think of all those teens who just don't feel accepted by other teenagers, that wish to be like them because they don't yet see they can't, think of all the people who just don't see their own beauty because it's hidden behind the schemes of modern society. I'm not saying it makes the film goth, I don't mean you have to like it... You gave us your opinion and I thank you for it giving you mine.
Just to get back to the topic, I'm a little afraid Alice in Wonderland will be just about special effects... that's why I'm afraid I'll be disappointed...

 Re: Alice in Wonderland
I like Burton all right, but is it just me, or does he seem to have a problem ending his movies? Certainly, that was my biggest problem with his take on Wonka - it just seemed to meander all over the place towards the end, and I seem to recall this as something of a pattern with him.
As for Alice itself, I am... nervous. I was raised with a great love for the book Alice In Wonderland and a great hatred of the Disney take on it. I suppose if I just go into it with the mindset of, "Well, they can't possibly screw it up worse than Disney did," I should be all right.
