 Pet Peeves? Post them here!
So i figured it would nice to have a place were we could list all of our pet peeves.
here are some of mine :
Ignorance- seriously, people really should not be so happy to be so stupid all the time. I have never found it to be all that blissful.
Kudos - What is that? If you want to give someone a compliment, then do it. I see no elegance or any type of feeling from that word. If i am going to give someone a well deserved compliment then I do it, I do not just say Kudos. No offence intended for those that do this.
Stupid Questions - it reminds me a lot of Bill Engvall's Here's your sign. Some things are just not worth the breath it took to say it.
Hesitating Before The Murder - in so many movies you see the person stop before they shoot or stab or kill in whatever fashion. Usually to say something. Becuase of this, sometimes (more often than not) the person who would have died does not or it is prolonged. Why hesistate? Just shoot them (good guy or bad guy, i do not care).
Horrible Endings - both in movies and books. If it has a crappy ending i am left going "what the hell?" and the entire time i spent watching or reading i feel was completely wasted.
Pop Music - i just cannot stand it. Enough said.
The Justice System (or Politics in general) - let us face it: it is messed up everywhere.
Religion - I am not talking about spirituality (at least in a non violent way), but religion as in the insitution. To many have died for it and many haveno idea about what they believe other than what they are told. i guess this can fit in with ignorance.
Violence - It is pointless to me.
Crowds - the smell of some, the loudness, the annoyance. I would rather not.
People Trying To Touch My Kids - i do not care if you think they are cute, do not attempt touching them.
Road Rage - What is the point? We are all going to get where we are going eventually (unless you die in a car accident).
So those are some of mine. How about you?

The woman on the cell phone with her three screaming kids changing lane into mine without signaling or checking her blind spot when I am riding my motorcycle, almost sideswiping me and my passenger into a guard rail.
-- Wed Dec 09, 2009 10:56 am --
People that let their kids just lay down on the floor in the middle of a mall unattended and then when I bring it to their attention they act like I have two heads.
-- Wed Dec 09, 2009 10:57 am --
People that give their children " Time Outs"

Re: Pet Peeves? Post them here!
People who park in a disabled parking spot, when they have no disabilities! Saw this the other night...guy didn't have the disabled license plate or the rear-view mirror placard. Took the last disabled space in the whole lot, when there were plenty of other parking places. There was nothing wrong with him...about 20-something, walking perfectly fine (no limp or anything that would have indicated an injury).
What if someone with a real disability (other than laziness) needed to park there? And it wasn't like he was making a quick stop! The car was still there when I finished my shopping 20 minutes later!
And to compliment some already posted...
1) people who talk on cell phones while driving (for some reason, around here, their head is no longer able to turn, even a little, to see what is going on around them).
2) parents who will not discipline their children!

Re: Pet Peeves? Post them here!
People who think its okay to be rude to me when im working. Seriously, a guy threatened to beat me up the other day because I wouldnt accept Russian currency. Im in Scotland, by the way. While im on the subject of work, people who hand me a list and expect me to get all their shopping for them while they stand around. Really? This is a grocery shop, your not in some fancy place. I am not employed to do this. Of course, I will do it if an elderly or disabled person asks me. One more work one, haha. Parents who will let their kids run around the shop like its some kind of playground. Then they get annoyed at me when i tell them "keep your kids under control or im throwing you out"? Your little brat just knocked over a shelf of stock for "fun"! People who walk really slow right in the middle of busy streets so its hard to walk around them. People who will not even try to listen to other peoples opinions. People jumping into my conversations. Even more so when they just jump in to make it about themselves. People on msn who change their screen names to "NOT IN THE MOOD,DONT SPEAK TO ME" know what? if your not in the mood sign out so people CANT speak to you. idiot. Thats it all for now i think, haha

Oh gosh...forgot all about the politically correct people! I'm one to tell it like it is, and I'm not pulling any punches! If I think someone is ignorant, I'll call them ignorant! I can so relate to the noise thing, too. I have very sensitive hearing, and certain noises just make the tiny hairs on the back of my neck stand up! My son has this duck noise...he risks getting a smack on the back of the head each time he does it! He also had these things called rattlesnake eggs. They were two oblong pieces of magnetic hematite, that when tossed in the air close to each other, would draw themselves to each other and make this "rattlesnake" noise. Drove me insane! I was so happy when he lost them! Then, while sitting at work one day, I hear the noise again. It's my BOSS! Someone gave him a set of those stupid things! I politely asked him not to mess with them in the office, and explained how bad the noise bothered me. Happily, he took them home to his grandson.

Re: Pet Peeves? Post them here!
Oh man. What a list. I can't even think of what peeves me the most since the list is a thousand and something people/things long.
But in order to not offend anybody here, I shall try to be vague.
1. People who don't turn off their damn cell phones in the movie theater. 2. Drivers who get miffed when you don't go at the speed that they want you to (which is about 15 miles above the speed limit), cut in front of you, and then what do they do? THEY GO SLOWER THAN YOU WERE GOING. 3. Misbehaving kids. I hate it when people let their children run around, damaging and touching other people's stuff, and then all they do is meekly say, "don't do that," or worse, they take a picture of their child pouring formula all over your computer, commenting on how adorable he or she is. IT IS NEVER CUTE WHEN A CHILD DESTROYS SOMETHING YOU - or worse: SOMEBODY ELSE - PAID $400 FOR. 4. Obviously racist people who claim to not be racist, but whenever they begin some racially controversial statement, they say, "I'm not racist, BUT *insert racist remark here*" 5. People who cut in line. Seriously. 6. People who have to slip in an innuendo at every little thing you say. 7. Teenagers who walk RIGHT in the middle of the street, when the sidewalk is perfectly fine to walk on (not flooded with water, unplowed of snow, or not-not there). Even when a car is coming, they don't move immediately. It makes me want to plow them over with the car. 8. People who don't walk their dog on a leash. 9. People who litter. 10. People who blame all of their problem on every possible source except the most obvious one: themselves.

Re: Pet Peeves? Post them here!
Those are pretty good. I agree most defintely with the cell phone driving and the disability parking. To my discredit i will answer if someone calls while i am driving (you never know when their can be an emergency), however if it is not an emergency, i will not hesitate to hang up on the person.
I have seen people park in handicap spots to who have no notable problems. Some people are just rude.
To Panzer - Do parents really let their kids go crazy in the store? That is sad. Whatever happened to disipline??? I understand the temper tantrum, but letting your kids do whatever they wish there is not really a good excuse for in most cases.
I loved the last one, Panzer. If you do not want to talk to people, do not change your screenname, simply sign off. Idiocy, once again, continues to astound me.
Edit : Posted this before the others.
Those are some great lists, i especially loved yours, Carpathian Dark Princess . Also, Politically correct people annoy me too!

I understand the temper tantrum, but letting your kids do whatever they wish there is not really a good excuse for in most cases. Yes, they do, in lots of places. When I owned a coffee shop, people would settle down with their lattes and then let the kids run around like it was their living room. Many times. One family in particular were regulars, and I was greatly relieved when school started and they couldn't come around so much anymore. They had a brood of 6 kids, brought them all along and gave them all free reign around the shop. The baby, not even walking, was allowed to crawl around on the floor. The older ones would climb on the chairs. One evening, this caused a chair to topple over, INCHES from the baby's head. And did mom do anything? NO! In a separate incident, a different mom let her two kids run back and forth the length of the shop. My husband, who ran the shop with me, finally lost his patience and told her she needed to get the kids to stop running. She actually laughed and said, "yeah, good luck." To which he responded, "No, good luck to you. Either make them sit still and shut the fuck up or get the fuck out of my shop!" Needless to say, she took her kids and left. It was beautiful.

So much! Its a pretty bad area that i work in, so the parents are pretty lazy and just let their kids do whatever they want. This includes getting drunk and taking drugs at 13. But the trouble those ones cause is another story. The ones that are between 5 and 10 just run around, pull things off shelves, open things and take afew bites before putting it back on the shelf...then the parents refuse to pay. This probably makes my job sound bad, but for the most part its a fun job and its getting me through college, so i cant really complain too much

Around here, you hear kids yelling and cussing at their parents and teachers. I've heard kids as young as 8 screaming at their parents, "What are you going to do? Nothing! Because I'll call child protective services (CPS) and cry abuse!!" Fear of CPS has many parents afraid of giving their children a good old fashioned tanning on one's hind side when it is required (yet another pet peeve of mine...if they are screaming in a store, it is time to make a trip to the potty )! Sure, my kids are not perfect...no one's kids are, even if they think they are! Kids will give in to peer pressure and do things they were taught was wrong. However, the difference is how they act in general. Neither of my kids act like heathens! They know how to act in public.

Re: Pet Peeves? Post them here!
I hate people who can't be bothered to hang up their cell phone while they are conducting business (like ringing out at a shop). That just pisses me off and I always hope the cashier takes advantage and short changes them.
I agree with all the kid stuff. If Henry decides to be a shit in public, he simply won't be leaving the house. Ever.
People who stop to have their little conversations while standing in the middle of a walkway/aisle. MOVE TO THE SIDE ASSHOLES.
Old people in the grocery store who park their cart in the moddle of the aisle while they search the shelves for their can of prunes, then act like they can't see or hear you when you try to get around them.
People who ask to "see your tattoo" and take your "yes" as permission to put their hands on it. WE SEE WITH OUR EYES MOTHERFUCKER, NOT OUR HANDS!!!!
Wow, I am an angry little woman. lol.
~spidey
OH! One more! Women who think that since you have had a child it is ok for them to discuss their childbirth experience with you, in GRAPHIC DETAIL.

Re: Pet Peeves? Post them here!
I dont think any of the kids here are smart enough to threaten their parents like that. Anyways, instead of going off topic, afew more pet peeves People who fake illness. Especially mental illness. People with bad manners. Kinda relates back to work again, but your going to know me for about 30 seconds, is it too hard say please and thank you? People who get obsessed with stuff to the point that its creepy (afew twilight fans i know inspired this..) People who say "random" too much. Not everything is random. Do they even know what random means? Maybe its just a UK thing...
