I just got into gothic industrial and would like some pointers to some good bands. Thanks.

Wumpscut are a favourite of mine, personaly... they'd be "gothic industrial" I guess, they're a bit of a crossover...

Hmm, I'll stick to the "classics" there's allways skinny puppy, they have a big blend of goth and industrial
Laibach - the're a little like rammstein, but totally different
Einsturzende Neubauten - think of angry germans having a fight with a washing machine and pieces of scrap metal
Front 242 - while the're EBM they still have a large place in the industrial world
Plus some more recent ones
Alec Empire - The singer from Atari Teenage Riot...his solo stuff is almost a fusion of Extreme metal, with hardcore industrial...fantastic
Covenenant - While more futurepop/EBM they still have done a lot of great things, listen to the song "theremin" and compare it to "bullet" and you'll realise how diverse they are
tankt a great Australian band that have a lot going for them

I concur with vialick, Alec Empire is fantastic.
I don't really know if they're industrial or EBM as such, but I like what I've heard from Razed In Black.

Also, check out some of the experimental industrial such as Neubauten (already mentioned), Throbbing Gristle, SPK, and newer experimental industrial bands like Merzbow, Noisex, and Imminent Starvation.
Not always everyone's cup of tea (I myself am not a big fan of Merzbow), but it's definitely worth giving a listen to.

I don't really know Merzbow, but I've heard the name mentioned in the same sentence as Melt-Banana - indeed, they've collaborated in the past. I'm quite a fan of the 'Nana, and while it's virtually impossible to pin them down to any specific genre, I'd assume they're around Merzbow's area of the leftfield.

I like what I've heard of Skinny Puppy. I've also heard that they're one of the most influential Industrial bands out there so they might be a good place to start.

I'd call Rammstein Gothic Industrial, and they're one of the most well-heard-of, too

Merzbow is the god of noise. I got 4 Merzbow CDs today, and it's obvious what puts his stuff apart from the rest of the noise scene.
Also, check out novakill who have sample mp3s on their site. They are synth based industrial from a dark future. They kick a bio-enhanced filth covered genetically engineered boot over :wumpscut:. Imagine leather strip cross :wumpscut: and skinny puppy
You should also try the Electric Hellfire Club

I'll only list bands not mentioned, and try to ignore the fact that half the people posting in this thread have no idea what the fuck they are talking about.
Dancy stuff:
Front Line Assembly
Haujobb
DAF
Klinik
Rocky stuff:
Pig
KMFDM
early Ministry
Chemlab
Acumen Nation
Cubanate
Noisy stuff:
Terrorfakt
Winterkalte
Early industrial (REAL industrial)
early Current 93
Zoviet France
Throbbing Gristle
Nurse With Wound
NON/Boyd Rice
That should get you started. It would help more if you posted bands you are into in this genre though, that way I can recommend something in the same vein.

I like more goth/metal types. like KMFDM, Skinny Puppy, Dope (if you call it that), Wumpscut, NIN (The Downward Spiral) and stuff like Electric Hellfire Club, and Razed In Black. I'm not sure of what type of genre those are, but I generally like the industrial/gothic metal type of stuff. Help is appreciated. Thanks for taking your time. These bands are the shit!

Check out My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult, Cubanate, Pig, Foetus, Chemlab, Bile and Acumen Nation to start then. They seem up your alley.
