If it's long enough, go for pigtails.

Actually, pigtails work with any type of hair and look great on both girls and boys.

For longer hair, try braids, plaits, buns, etc (think medieval). It looks really cool with ribbons in it.

hair can be incredibly fun but incredibly annoying when it grows past your waist. i've been trying to design some barrettes...i plan to glue ribbons onto a clip of some sort and attatch a dried rose somehow. i got the idea from http://www.gothfashion.info/x.php?stuff=hairacc

it's a great site...a bunch of doityourself stuff. other people have posted this site but i thought i'd just post it again :p
but back to the hair, i prefer not to crimp, straighten or curl my hair because a) it's too long and would get weighed down and b) it burns your hair. Plus, you can get the wavy effect merely by sleeping in a wet braid overnight (or whatever time of day you sleep).
so enough for my rambling, try barrets, ribbons, and various braids are also nice.
while we're on the topic, anyone wanna try to tell me how to attatch the head of a rose onto a barette??

An oft overlooked styling tool is elmer's school glue. You can use it to really spike shortish hair up to 7 inches or so, or you can use it to put pseudo dreads in longer hair. Wet the hair first and put in a light later of glue. Be careful not to use too much or it will start to clump. Add small amounts until it starts to hold. A blow dryer is a must for spiking, because you need to hold the hair in place until it's dry, which can take a long time without one.

The process is about the same for dreads, just twist the glue into the hair. The glue will hold for up to a week. If it sags, just wet it slightly and dry back in place. To wash it out use warm water and soap, soaking it for a few minutes will help. It doesn't damage hair at all, in my experience. Plus it's a lot of fun to wake up to hair that still stands on it's own.

Depending on how long your hair is...Try french braids. Or, twist hair up into little buns all over your head, and leave the ends free.

Meh same here....you could maybe put little mini pigtails to make you look like a little dolly (My fave style :) )
Get some black/red/purple/green/pink hair paint and colour your hair in streaks. you sleek it through your hair like gel.

ok, since there is a hair topic open right now i'm going to steal the spotlight in this one! hahahaha.
um, yeah. my hair is about 2 inches (too long to spike [or gel] and too short to start working on a part) in that phase where i could quite easily do that trendy messy look. i tried using pomade in it today and the look was okay, but my hair feels kinda...nasty, and dirty. i don't like it like that. and as far as i know that leaves me with two choices. (a) slick it back like a greaser or maffia guy or (b) do nothing to it, in which case it becomes a really puffy afro thing. neither of those two options appeal to me. so what should i do? any suggestions?

Shai'tan

Shave it off.

Problem solved.

Btw, 2 inches is not too long to gel at all, you could gel youself a mohawk.

One thing I've done when I was bored with my hair and didn't want to dye it was to (with a mate's help) plait wool into it. Get two different colours and use a small chunk of of your hair for each plait. The easiest way to do it is to cut the wool double the length of your hair fold it over one of those little hair elastics so it's like you have two strands hanging down. Do the same with the other colour on the other side of the band and attatch it to the top of the
plait-to-be.
I used purple and orange wool-I reckon it looked pretty good! *)

i've had the same haircut for 9 years. either long or short, i've had bettie page bangs.

it takes me about 5 minutes to do in the morning, and that's what really counts. more time for eye makeup. ;)

Perhaps someone can help me with my hair...

It's black, about shoulder length, layered, so the front parts of it are just below my ears. I didn't intend for it to be cut so short, because my hair is thick and wavey, and the result now is a big bushy fluff upon my head, which I don't find very pleasing... Think of Hermione from the first Harry Potter movie, with her hair only shorter, and you've got my hair. (except mine is slightly curlier) Normally I just shove some gel in and it stays down, although it's so BORING and too curly... it looks drab and the gel makes it stiff and unnatural looking...

What else can I do with it? I have a long oval face, which I always consider when trying to do my hair... help. ;.;

how about a loose french twist? or a loose bun? if you keep them loose, you can still tell that you have curly hair, but keeps it off of your neck. let the pieces in the front that are ear length remain loose curls going into or around your face. also, any way that a woman is able to accentuate her neck is always a huge turn-on for the opposite sex.

l'oreal has a defrizzing solution that i use on my hair. it feels very oily to the touch, which weighs your hair down just enough to not make it too poofy. it's in a small orange pump-style bottle.

best of luck,
akasha

My hairs streight and somewhere in between black and brown (I'm not too good with colours), extremely dark for brown but not exactly jet black. About four and a half inches long with a grade 4 shave on the sides and back, I usually just slick mine back using a small amount of styling gel and a thick toothed comb. You can get some really nice effects if you use a thick toothed comb, it seperates your hair so I've more or less got long backwards spikes, once I managed to get a kind of layered claw look. I plan on getting red highlights later or maybe silver if thats possible, not sure. I've quite versatile a hair cut really, if I used some wax I could do 'venus fly trap' type spikes.

Ok question time, something a bit different. What about goate's, does anyone have anything special I can try, other than the obvious dying it green. Oh wait maybe I can do the satan look, grow it a little and curl it, you know =:)
