Just wondering, since where I live (NE PA) makes up for what it lacks in Goths with an overpopulation of preps, jocks, hippies, townies, and rednecks. Scary stuff, considering I'm probably the only Goth within 30 miles from where I live.
I feel so alone and unloved *sniff sniff*

i'm from Pa. northwest though..and towns around here are so small we're only allowed 1 full-time goth per village. The rest have to take turns.
I get every alternate Friday

Top! I'll be moving back to PA in a week and some hours. Somewhere near Harrisburg I think, for the moment. I hope there's more of a goth community in that area. But, yeah, I'll be 'from PA' in a bit.

Hmm, I heard that the areas around Harrisburgh is where the "Ghetto" people live, but hopefully not. Pennslyvania is somewhat lacking in Goths nowadays.

Well, Philadelphia still has a bit of a scene to it (not as good as N.Y.C. though) and New Hope, (a town right along the Delaware River about an hour north of Philly) where I used to reside, has it own quiet little goth scene. New Hope is a very artsy and unique town where one can find a vast array of ecclectic locals. It is very easy to be yourself in that town as it is very welcoming to all walks of life. Most of them anyway.
There are some wonderful shops for goth gear (Against the Grain, Gothic Creations, Witch Shop) plenty of antique shops to find a few treasures to decorate your home and plenty of restaurants to go grab a bite to eat after running rampant through the streets all day.
There is a club called Zadar's that is open on Fri. and Sat. nights. Avoid the main room as it is filled with nothing but cheesy and crappy dance music . . . BUT they do have a little 'eighties' room off to the left where one can sit at the bar with a drink, plop down on one of the couches or dance away to the sounds of Peter Murphy, The Cure, Siouxsie, etc. It's average for a club but it's one of the few places to go.
There's also 'The Cartwheel' which isn't goth at all. It's a gay club but they have some GREAT drag shows there! Very worthwhile to watch one of those.
'Love Saves The Day' is a great vintage store filled with all sorts of little articles to play with (prices are a bit hefty though) and there's 'Night Owl' another vintage shop, mostly clothes and priced lower. 'Against the Grain' is a beautiful shop filled with swords, jewelry, Gothic clothing and anything else that would make a goth's heart melt. Mike, the owner, just opened up another store right in New Hope but gave it a separate name which escapes me right now. Sorry!
Sitting by the river at night is also nice to. Outdoor patios are open during the summer so there is always banter to be heard on the streets. Some of those buildings are gorgeous (The Mansion Inn, a beautiful victorian B&B that I have vowed to myself that I WILL purchase it one day).
What I don't like about New Hope is the over-crowding of it. It is a severe tourist trap and therefore, the outsiders that come in wind up destroying the town. Any crime (extremely low), or property damage is 90% of the time due to the rowdy tourists.
Parking is a bitch on the weekends. I always despised that.
As far as Harrisburg goes, I do not know much about it. I have heard different things about the area but nothing bad.
Enough writing for now!

*plug* The Crüxshadows have a show planned for August 14th in Philadelphia.
A few months back we went to New Hope with some friends. It was fun and it is a cute town, but it is massively touristy and the shops reflect it as you pay NYC prices for food in some cases.
It struck me as that they're getting to the point where the larger chain type stores are coming in (Starbucks) and eventually due to the soaring real estate costs the little shops that made it this attraction to begin with will be forced out and corporate America will have sucked the soul out of it.

I hate it when that happens. I've never even BEEN inside a Thrift Store because there's not one left since the big corporations are forcing them out of business.

Question to Black_Rose:
Just who are the "Ghetto" People you are referring to?
Just curious.

Don't even get me started on the fucking Starbucks that moved into that town! Like that area doesn't already have enough coffee shops!
Seeing how things have changed in that area over the past few years have been a bit disappointing but I think (I hope) New Hope will forever retain a sense of that unique individuality that makes it so inviting. I do remember many years ago, there used to be a 'Benetton' store right on Main St. . . stuck out like a sore thumb amongst the privately owned shops and soon it went out of business and a lovely little cat store named 'Meow Meow' took over the space. Perhaps one day, Starbucks will be struck with that same fate . . . but deep down inside, I know it won't and that saddens me.

When I say Ghetto, I mean the people that walk around saying; "Yo yo yo son that shizzle is off the heezy, know what I be sayin?" "Wurd, son. I just won Player of the Year!"
I'm not discriminating, it's just what some people call them.

Heh. black_rose's 'ghetto' people sound exactly like my roommate from college. Someone once described him as 'the blackest white person' he'd ever met. But, yes, he was from the center of Harrisburg, so there might be a lot of truth to what you say. I'll ask him next time I see him online.
As for the Cruxshadows concert, I'm definately going to try to do everything I can to get there. I hope I don't get back to find tickets sold out. If anyone who's going to be there wants a drink (non-alcoholic, i alway forget), feel free to sign up now...
Ah, damn... I hate the US's policy on alcohol. So damn backwards.

I'm going to pester PreZ to go, even though it will be a fairly extensive drive (several hours each way).
If you want I can buy an alcoholic drink for you if you can't

Funny, I always thought that Micheal Jackson was the blackest white person.

No, he's the whitest black person.

Either way would probably work for him, more or less.
