I was simply wondering how big everyone's Cd collection is, how many styles everyone has in their collections, and if you still listen to all the cd's in there...
Personnally, I have about 180 Cd's, varying from goth to punk to metal to alternative....tehre might even be some rap in there...and i still like all my cds but some of them get played waaaaay more than others, which is understandable, right?
So yeah...now you tell me the size of yours.

I have one cd of THE UTMOST AMAZING REVERAND MANSON!!! (note the sarcasm ). It was a birthday present.

My CD collection is veeery small. It's hardly a collection, more a small pile. Also, most of them are the kind of music I listened to years and years ago, so I rarely listen to them now.
The few that I actually listen to include three Rolling Stones ones - Hot Rocks, Rewind and Forty Licks, Goldfrapp - Black Cherry and Eurythmics - Greatest Hits. Apart from that, most of my music is on records, jukebox or computer.
I really need some more CDs

My CD and Vinyl collection has reached a little more than 500 records, and spawns everything from prog.rock to classical. The bulk of the collection is goth-rock, industrial, trip-hop, indie and doom...
In addition to this I have a little more than 200 albums on my computer.
Yes I listen to all my records.
Yes I am a music junkie...

my personal collection:
3 vinyl records
15 audio tapes
32 CDs
About 1/3rd of my collection is folk music, mainly Celtic but also includes American folk, and various other ethnicities like Polish, Russian, and Chinese.
Another 1/3rd is classic rock (Led Zepplin, Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones, Dire Straits, etc.) and old school metal (Motorhead, old Metallica, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest etc.).
The final 1/3rd is everything else: goth, country, blues, jazz, alternative, classical, soul, funk, rap, reggea, punk, movie soundtracks etc.
Because I share a lot of the same musical interests as my parents and my brother, I could just borrow music from them. Now that I'm starting on my own, my music collection is far smaller than what I wish it was.

About 300 CDs. Half of those are show recordings (I'm a soundboard junkie, yum). Other half includes prog-rock, post-rock, glitchy electronica, indie, trip-hop, industrial, classical, and a shitload of experimental stuff! I'm a huge fan of Constellation Records stuff! (godspeed you black emperor, set fire to flames, silver mt zion, fly pan am, etc) So my CD rack is nicely adorned by those cool artsy cardboard CD cases.

I have 500-600 cd's.About 200-300 vinyl records.
I have punk,deathrock,goth,new wave,classical,early country,celtic,etc....
The reason why I have a lot of stuff i because I have dj'd. Some of it I don't even listen to,like the Cure, because I had to buy them to spin.

I don't have a great deal of actual cd's. My personal collection only consistes of about 100 cd's. Everything from Tori Amos and Fiona Apple to Yaz. I also have every Marilyn Manson cd ever put out. That's right, I'm willing to admit that I like them. Sue me. I'm not ashamed of my musical tastes.
However, if I am allowed to add my SO's CD's to my collection, then I have another 200 or so of nothing but metal and German Industrial (Metallica and Rammstein type of stuff). I also have amassed a somewhat impressive collection of other music that shall remain nameless here. Let's just say I have a lot of it.

I have about 80 cd's, and a ton of stuff on vinyl but no record player ??? My collection is incredibly varied... classical and neo-classical... celtic rock and more traditional celtic... goth... older rock music... metal... generally weird stuff like Tom Lehrer (if anyone knows who he is I will be happy with you, indeed I will :p )

*counts*
Besides 2 cds that I'm loaning out at the moment, I've got 104 cds and 3 cassette tapes; the Purple Rain soundtrack, Culture Club, and an Ace of Base tape that got taped over with radio songs.
Most of my collection is from 1998 to 2001 when I went on massive cd buying sprees. It's all radio friendly. Metal, generock, emo, mild punk, '80s new wave, '70s rock, and 12 incubus cds. X) All of my goth-type cds are burned, and I got all the songs from the threads on this board so I will be well informed.
AGDN -- recently named her 5th gothic cd "cinco de goth"... thinking she's clever yet again.

I have a collection of about 80 CDs, mostly heavy metal, gothic and alternative. All of Metallica, Sisters, Bauhaus, G n R, Pink Floyd, Manson's early stuff (which I like), some Bowie, Rage, UB40, Eminem, Santana, Clash, and then a shitload of mp3 collections.

The true bulk of my music collection has been fairly fluid ever since I started listening to music. I usualy traded on mix tapes in high school and then kept a large collection of mp3's in college. I probably only have about 250 CDs to my name, and that's a collection built up over the course of about 8 or 9 years. I am slow to buy CDs usually because up until recently, there wasn't much of an impetus to do so. I'd either listen to tapes that others gave me, DL mp3s and the buy the CDs of the bands that I liked the most, or I would DJ with CDs from the radio station that I ran for 2 years.
