Maybe because you're using 'Netscape' instead of 'Internet Explorer.' I've noticed this on my computer. Using the Netscape gives me a white background while the Explorer gives me the usual black that I'm used to. Certain web-sites just won't show up as they should and the whole thing is just slow as shit. I have computer problems in general. My Explorer is very moody, doesn't always work. . . hence forcing me to use the Netscape when desperate. I believe I have hard drive problems. #( Ah, I will get a brand-spanking new computer one of these days! Heh . . .
