*notices the quiet thread*

I can't stand "Big Brother". Does anyone else watch it? What is the point? I only watch it because my younger brother is obsessed with it. I can't see the attraction of watching that fat loathsome wench Jade prancing around like a poster girl for poor education: I'd like to see her voted out, but I think that the house is the best place for her. They should keep her there forever, away from the rest of society. Maybe they could leave her in there for next year's Big Brother: she could lurk in the walls waiting for an unwary housemate to come too close, whereupon she reaches out and devours the hapless soul.

Not seen a whole episode, and do NOT plan to. I don't know any of the people, but I've heard of Jade. ???
What is our country's obsession with this voyeuristic them of television? Are we acting out some kind of repressed desires?! :0
I suggest a new task where the housemates are given military surplus equipment and told they have twelve hours to survive against their former friends. THATS television!
;P

I think this thread is a damn good idea, it was occurring to me that the Brit crowd didn't have a voice. Thanks Immortal!

I find more entertainment watching an epmty fish bowl than watching Big Brother.
I've seen at least two letters in a T.V mag saying that the people are boring and none of them are interesting to watch.
Out of loads of people, they could at least picked a couple of interesting housemates.
The only news i get on BB is from Graham Norton.

Thank you. At least some people agree with me that it isn't worth watching.

And I hate townies.

My plan for a reality Television show...

Several of the most hateful members of the public are left on a remote island in the Orkney isles and are given the task of surviving. None of this "survivor" crap when they get treats and stuff, I'm talking about proper survival! The contestants will be allowed one "luxury item", which means they had better take an army knife or they will be screwed because they will have to make their own shelter and hunt their own food. No electricity, no prefab houses, so stuff like hairdryers will be useless.

The unlucky sods will be parachuted onto the island having been given only the bare basics of parachuting: it is guaranteed that a few of them will break their legs and/or die, but that just adds to the fun of the show. Various challenges can be introduced in the form of serial killers, wild animals and other fun things being introduced to the island.

I'll call Chris Morris straight away, pitch him the idea. Something tells me he'll like it. =:)

EVERYONE hates townies. Even townies hate townies. :?

Townies:
a) don't always live in towns but can get in on the scene.
b) wear matching sports clothing
c) can be seen driving round town centres in 'tastefully' modified Ford Escorts, while playing crap repetitive music
d) smoke like chimneys. Lambert and Butler prefered
e) males: usually very little of brain. Randomly spurts insult and pretends to be hard.
f) females: are more dangerous; you can't hit them. Much louder and easily recognisable by wearing denim jackets.

Hope that reminds you.

In regards to Big Brother, a phenomenon I'm sorry to say I believe eventuated in Holland and then spread like some rabid disease...

Over here in the US I believe they're on to BB 3 already. I know back in Holland they had at least 2 Big Brother shows... one being a bunch of VIPs, though I think they only had to stay for maybe a week or two, not sure.

So, I think that you'll be looking at a few more BB's for now... as long as there is a nation (or nations as the case may be) full of people intent on watching boring morons from all angles talk about bullshit.

*Multiple fore-head thwaps.* Ach. They did a VIP Big Brother with our 'celebrities'. They went to pieces after about four days. It was somewhat entertaining, but ultimately disillusioning. After all, they're supposed to be our entertainers...not rejects from Bedlam.

However, I heard the US show is slightly more active...on BB2 I think a housemate pulled a knife on another 'mate as a "joke". :O
The most that happens here is some guy climbed on the roof. Shock. :|

I only smoke Lambert & Butler because they're cheap.

As for townies, well, Thanet is full of them.

Jack Dee was hilarious in that one.
