Industrial tends to be a mix. You have your synths, samples, vocals (distorted or not), maybe some guitars, and even sometimes an actual orchestra.
Techno tends to be just beats, sounds not produced by actual existing objects. etc.

So what's the difference between industrial, darkwave, and EBM then? Can anyone explain this to me please? Sorry if this has been explained elsewhere in the forum. If it has I'll come back and delete this post.

EBM is industrial dance music (Front 242, Nitzer Ebb, VNV Nation, Assemblage 23). Mostly with bass hits on the beats and snare hits every other beat.
Industrial (Throbbing Gristle, Skinny Puppy, Einsturzende Neubauten) is more experimental with song structure and the instruments used.
Darkwave has nothing to do with industrial. Darkwave is just goth rock, only done with electronics instead of guitar. (Cruxshadows)

EDIT: DOUBLE POST
Also, there is plenty of techno with the "mix". Many techno artists have lyrics.

A lot of people tend to think of Techno as just a general name for Electronica, when in actuality, It's just one of the many subgenres in Electronic music. This form of music originated in Detroit by early masters like Derrick May, Kenny Larkin, and Carl Craig. As well as the Leeds house scene, they were also inspired by bands like Kraftwerk and New Order.

Techno, Trance, Rave, etc. seem to be more happy/epic, while industrial and the like are more dark/hard rock-ish.
My opinion, of course. I like almost all electronic music anyway.

There´s a lot of differences but they´re related, the industrial its more dark and the music have more complex lirycs (sometimes) and the guitars are allmost allways included but theres a exception in the rule, some techno music could sound like industrial.
I hope i wasnt offend anybody that likes TEchno.

Hey I know this has nothing to do with what the topic here is but people seem to dismissing Evanscence because they think it's Christian rock and I do agree that they are a little too Christianic because I'm actually a Pagan not a Christian but I still like Evanescence (fav. Imaginary) along with the other bands like Siouxsie and the banshees and I don't think Evanescence is that bad in fact I use to like them before they even got popular. Damn that was a long run-on sentence! Well I have their album Fallen and I've heard it all and I'd say those song are sophisticated enough to be called goth. I know that for the normal idiots that like her just because she's famous do not care for anything else but the sound it makes. That's why I hate Heavy Metal.

I've listened to the album Fallen and I don't think any of the songs on there are gothic at all. More like ballads or your standard metal tracks. It's not because they're Christian rock that people diss them, it's because they are a pretty mediocre act.
You say you were a fan before they got popular? So you have their first two albums before Fallen then?
