Hmmm...I always wondered what people thought of Hot Topic. Anywy, for people who don't understand the second choice in the poll,I mean that's the only place you can buy stuff because of location and/or lack of a credit/debit card so you can buy online.

i am a former hot topic emplyee... my disctrict manager fucked me in the ass, because some former friends took advantage of my trusting good nature, and droped 3 fake $50's on me... and i was there from the start of store #228, pulling as many hours as management... fuck hot topic, they are lucky i havent rooted their IIS .com host machine because i would've replaced their index w/ their customer credit card database in a text file...

Which would be fucking with customers more than it would be the actual store. Not all credit-card companies reimburse 100% of purchases made through fraud.

Next time at least add a poll choice which amounts to something like "I buy the occasional item there" or so rather than love/hate/forced to.

Plus 'they're the only choice' is a load of crap, no matter where you live. With a bit of imagination you can come up with more original ideas than HT can using very basic items to start off with.

Also, as Mesmerise pointed out, we've already had the Hot Topic discussion several times... check out the Fashion section among others.

the thing about it is you dont have to deal exclusively with 'hot topic'. they basically outsource the majority of their merchandise, aside from say, their 'morbid threads/morbid makeup', which is in house developed. if you are just looking for specific items, you can find alot of stuff by hitting the fashion victim site. i find a lot of the stuff hot topic sells to be in the lesser grade... i have the 86$ black angel wings, and the XS black vinyl ball gown and skirts and boots and vinyl pants, you name it. 65% of the items ive purchased there, with the exception of the makeup, have had flaws in their manufacturing, and were talking 65$ platform boots that the soles blow out on in 2 months, buckles that break, stitching that comes out after wearing it twice... i guess i take what i wear somewhat seriously, though i think if you too are serious about your appearance, you should take the time to shop around before breaking down and going to the disney of gothic fashion for all your wardrobe needs ;'

As we don't have anything like that in England, I click on 'I hate...', because I don't like the sound of it. The ironic thing is that it would probably be popular here. Oh well...

Me being in Canada... or atleast Winnipeg helps me in not haveing to deal with this. Canada, or so i know, doesn't have Hot Topic.
I persoanly think thats a good thing. But then i shop at the cheap Value Village, or get hand-me-downs... which are usualy bad brightly colord cloths... bleh (draws a sickly face)

I didn't bother voting because, like Rose and Darkness we have no version of Hot Topic; however, recently a chain fo stores called TopMan has begun experimenting with alternative fashion and unfortunately found it successful. Darkness, don't know if you have any up your way?

Hot Topic bothers me because of the wannabe's who think "buying at a 'freak store' is just so incredibly kewl, 'n it will make me all gothic and stuff."
As so many times stated before, Hot Topic makes profit off people who are trying not to be a product of the mainstream, by creating a store that is exactly that, mainstream.
I think that buying the majority of one's wardrobe from Hot Topic is a foolish complete waiste of money. I've found their clothes to be cheaply made and they start falling apart in a week after the purchase.
Needless to say, I do not shop at Hot Topic because of the latter reason, although I do go there for an occasional accessory. One may get the same, or even better quality clothing at a Good Will for much less, with a bit more creativity thrown in. Imagine that.
Please excuse my redundance,
~Ophelia
