I was compelled to post this to start up a potential video gamer thread.
Which of these following systems do you own and what kinds of games do you play on them?
(I put some of the old school video game consoles up there, because some people still have them, as shocking as it may seem.)
I own a NES, SNES, Sega Genesis, an old Game Boy (these first four no longer work), Playstation, and Nintendo 64, and I usually play either RPGs or fighting games. I'm waiting for the price to go down on a PS2, and I can wait because my PS will suffice 'til then.

The PS2's are down to about $198, as are the Nintendo Game Cubes... or so my eBay/Half.com spam led me to believe.
I just game on the PC mostly, though that's on hold until such time as my system is somewhat heavily upgraded.
A PS2 would be interesting, but I'm not sure I'd play on it enough to justify the cost. And I'd want a bigger tv too.
Lilith - maybe someday...

On a slightly related topic, this CNN article... which also corroborates the $199 price for PS2's.
I think the most scary thing in that article is the mention of Britney Spears games. Blech!

The PS2, Xbox, and GameCube are all $199 now ... I'd expect the GameCube to go down in price soon though.
I own: Sega Genesis, Sega CD, Nintendo 64, Dreamcast, GameCube, Xbox.
I wish I still had my Master System and Saturn ... but I sold them a while ago ...
Personally, I recommend the Xbox over the PS2. The PS2 is the least powerful of all three systems, and though it has more games, it has a higher percentage of bad games than the other systems. Most of what's really good on the PS2 will come over enhanced on the Xbox. Also, the Xbox has online capabilities built-in, where as the PS2 requires a $50 upgrade. AND the Xbox comes ready for 4player games. Again the PS2 requires a $25-$50 upgrade for that ability.

* Tekken Tag
* Grand Theft Auto 3
* Max Payne
* Devil May Cry
etc...

Tekken, Devil May Cry ... coming to Xbox
Max Payne ... already on Xbox
GTA3 though will remain a PS2 exclusive till 2004.
However, Xbox has Halo ... and that game blows away all of those.
95% of what's good on the PS2 will come over enhanced on the Xbox.
Microsoft owns much more, and much better developers than Sony.

I've heard that if you are somewhat 1337 on games, you can finish Halo in 3 hours... Not much to do after that then...
I've only seen some scenes of it at a local mall where they had an X-Box running... Looked good though!

Well, it depends on what difficulty you play it in.
It's also one of those games that's fun to play through with other people (cooperatively) ... not to mention ... the main attraction is the 4 - 16 player deathmatches.
Halo has *a lot* of replay value.

X-Box has the games,but that controller...it's hell-bent on breaking my hand. Gamecube is small...very small. It's tiny. PS2...let's just say I'm not paying $120 to get it a little cleaning so I can play blue-bottom discs. So that's why I own all of them.

i dont want to disrespect all the BUTTON MASHERS out there! J/K. ive got NES, Sega, and PSX. im kinda an old skool kinda guy. i had to bust open my nes to fix it after i dropped it, and then my sister goes and steals it! oh well. i got my Sega and mashed the hell out of my controller playing mutant league hockey(that i still cant find) and my playstation is my holy ground untill i get GTA3 for PC.(though i need a new pc) all the gta games are great! well id just like to say one word to all those console lovers out there... EMULATION! almost any game out there is avalable for download for phree. the games look better are cusomizable and networkable(usually) and most of the best games ither started on PC's or are being turned to PC games. if im wrong correct me. id appreceate it. we all would be that much more informed. and i tend to talk out of me bum. so you know where my vote is, PC and Emulation.

To the Xbox and GameCube owners out there, the only thing I have to say to them is: Final Fantasy. Except for the early, early games, the FF series never has and never will switch systems.
But, don't get me wrong, i mean no disrespect for those other console owners. I only make judgements on a system or games after using them and playing them. I own a sweet PC, laptop, a SNES, a PSX, and a PS2. I have tried out the gamecube and i think it's a very solid console. I haven't yet played the Xbox but after reading quite a few statistics, cold hard facts, and the fact that i think microsoft is as close to the Borg as you can get, i believe that system is going to pull a "Sega". By that i mean it will go under in maybe a year or so and just focus on making games of it's own. But i'm not exactly sure since i am only a person, not a wacko fortune teller :b .
Well, whatever system you choose, have fun, thats my view.

Oh, one more thing, i would worship the one who invented Emulaters. It was an emulated version on Chrono Trigger that first turned me on to RPGs and the like. I thank the Emulation gods for blessing me with that small favor they bestowed upon me :b .

Yay~! A gamer's poll. ^.^
I own: N64, Playstation, Playstation2, Gamecube, Gameboy Pocket, Advance, Color.
Used to own: NES, SNES, Sega Genesis.
Though, i just named the systems owned between my brother and me, heh.
I play computer games aswell: Diablo2, Warcraft2, Everquest, Runescape. ( Yes, i know Runescape doesn't have the best of graphics, but it's a fun game )
This is just my opinion, but i prefer PS2 over XBox, Gamecube over XBox too. I HATE the XBox controller.. What the fuck was that fuck-tard Bill Gates thinking?? That's just a horrendous controller, hehe. PS2 has the most comfortable controller out of them all.
I LOVE Devil May Cry, it's a bad-ass game! Kessen is a cool game too, and Final Fantasy X is another bad-ass game, i only wish you didn't have to use that lil bitch Tidus, if it were up to me i'd use: Lulu, Kimarhi, Auron. But still, RedXIII, Vincent Valentine, and Lulu are my fav playable characters. ( Vincent would be BAD-ASS if he used swords or scythes instead of guns.. I'm not a gun person.. At all, hehe )
My favorite game on Gamecube so far is Smash Bros. Melee, that game is fuckin' fun! The first one on N64 kicked ass, and the Gamecube version is way better. ^.^ ( Bowser, Ganondorf, Marth, Link, Zelda/Shiek, Mewtwo are my favs )
A friend of mine plays Emulators like crazy, i heard from him that there will be ( Or already existing ) an adapter that transfers certain game system game emulators ( NES, Sega, the diffirent Gameboys ) onto a blank Gameboy type games to be playable on the Gameboy Advance.. Seems cool to me, but there may be some problems.. Dunno. :b
I just have this to say in ending: Final Fantasy Tactics is one THE BEST games ever. =:)

Squaresoft is already working on a Final Fantasy for the GameCube ... and the next Final Fantasy Online will be on all three home consoles. /div wrote: I haven't yet played the Xbox but after reading quite a few statistics, cold hard facts, and the fact that i think microsoft is as close to the Borg as you can get, i believe that system is going to pull a "Sega". Actually, Xbox is selling much more systems than Nintendo, and it's selling way more games on its system than Nintendo. It already has a 2-million installed base in the US ... so it's selling just as fast as the PS2 did in its first 6 months ...

I think it's just a matter of getting used to any controller.
I never owned any Sony system ... so when I pick up a PS/PS2 controller I can't stand it ...
Not to mention I owned the Dreamcast ... and the Xbox controller is very similar ... so I had no problems adjusting to it.
I'm sure if I bought a PS2 and played on it for a while I'd get used to the controller ... I just haven't been convinced by the PS2 lineup ...
