 Devil May Cry anyone?
I searched if there was any forum topic on this series. But I didn't find any. Forgive md if there is, I probably didn't search correctly. ;n;
Umm, who here has played Devil May Cry? I love the series, especially the first and 3rd game. The first one I found was darker and pretty intense. I loved the scenery of the castle too. And DMC3 was stylish, I loved Dante and Vergil's relationship in the game. I wished they continued on in DMC5 with the same guy who made the first game.
Any thoughts on the reboot, or on the other games, theories or anything?

I've only played Devil May Cry 4. It's awesome! I've played it on the PC and recently bought it for the PS3. Wicked graphics!!

 Re: Devil May Cry anyone?
Another series I've always wanted to get into, but never had the money to. Definitely going to be one of the first series of games I play more of when I do, though. I only have Devil May Cry 2, which apparently is the worst in the series according to others. I've also watched the entire Devil May Cry anime... It was eh. A disappointment honestly. I have seen worse, however, and its not a terrible anime... It's just very mediocre.
Fun facts from the anime: Dante loves strawberry sundays, goes through pizza like a Teenage Mutant Turtle, and owes almost everyone money.

 Re: Devil May Cry anyone?
I bought the first one from Gamestop once upon a time when it was $5 and gave it a try.
I can say, not really my thing. I don't really see the appeal. I liked the monsters and some of the level design, but I didn't like the gameplay, story, and especially not Dante.

I love it a lot, and I agree. The graphics are phenomenal. I play it on Xbox 360, always have. I'd think that it would look even more beautiful since I think that PS3 has blue ray graphics. I agree, I watched the anime as well and it dissapointed me too. I think I expected more, I watched it when I was like 12. I was expecting to see Dante's devil trigger and Vergil, and maybe past enemies. They shouldve made that prequel Devil May Cry 3 Manga an anime. THAT would be worth watching. I think they stopped doing the manga. Oidhche-Yorath wrote: I bought the first one from Gamestop once upon a time when it was $5 and gave it a try.

I understand, maybe it's just not your taste. <3 At least you tried it out. Some people totally shun videogames without giving it a try. XD So you're cool!

I think they stopped doing the manga. Being that I don't know too much about Devil May Cry, my judgement of the anime was more based on a set of expectations I have for all anime. For me, I was expecting more detailed action instead of lazy close-ups of Dante or the various demons he killed with blood splatters and gunshot noises. I also was expecting a little more actual background and exploring of Dante's character and past. All I got was two guys who trained with Sparda and died shortly after their appearance. The finale was a hurried and mashed up "epic" plot climax that failed to impress me. It was all just very lazy and aimless, quite generic by my standards. I've never read the manga. I don't normally do manga due to financial reasons, but I'm sure anything would be better than that anime.

I was expecting more action, more adventures, his past, brother, possibly the little girl's past too. I found it dissapointing too, and felt like they would've done better. I highly doubt the creator of the anime was the same person who made DMC1...if ONLY we got the original guy who made DMC1, the anime would have been phenomenal. So yeah, I agree, the anime wasn't entertaining as an anime itself too.

 Re: Devil May Cry anyone?
Love DMC, I'm disappointed by the Dante redesign, he was always so iconic, and they've made him into "generic "cool" hero", but, as long as the game mechanics are kept the same. and he isn't as annoying as the DMC2 Dante, I'll be fine with it.

I agree, I think Ninja Theory has gone way too far in redesigning him. I mean, it was Capcom's intention for Ninja Theory to give their own perception of Dante....but I feel like, it's as if they never honestly researched DMC and kept what makes Dante tick regarding looks. White hair is Sparda's trait, so it wouldn't make sense if they made it black all of a sudden. I think he looks good looking, since I like that look on guys but as a DMC fan I was dissapointed in this huge change. And on top of that, Dante smokes! I could've sworn somewhere in the anime, manga or videogames that Dante said he doesn't like smoking. Still that doesn't stop me from playing it, however, I'm going to have to read reviews before I actually buy a 50$ game. JUST in case. I'm not drawn away from playing it, the gameplay and mechanics is impressive IMO, and so is the graphics, and I'm curious to see what they did.

 Re: Devil May Cry anyone?
If you look closely at the trailers you'll see that the new Dantes hair turns white when he's using magic powers

 Re: Devil May Cry anyone?
I'm a sucker for cool monsters in a game, and Devil May Cry has always had some of the more terrifying bosses......
Is there honestly any game boss more frightening than Nefasturris??
Generally a horror-themed game isn't worth it if the monsters suck.....

Yes games look amazing on the PS3 with our HDTV. Wicked sharp!! The differences between cross platform games is pretty negligible, and in the past the 360 got the better version as the game was designed for it first, then ported to PS3 because Sony made the playstation a chore to program for, you'll only really see the power of either on their respective exclusive titles, and even then it's hard to say. Blu Ray allows for the games to be bigger, and have more content, but doesn't really have any effect on graphics, but to this day nobody has actually exploited this feature except on games like final fantasy where other versions required 2 discs while the PS3 version was all on 1. It was my main source of disappointment when it was announced DMC4 would be multi platform.

 Re: Devil May Cry anyone?
@centurion: I think the most frightening of all throughout the series was Nightmare...until I recalled Nefasturris. OAO; I never played DMC2 but I watched my bro play it before as a child, and...damn. That thing creeped me out. He, Phantom, Nevan,Echidnia (or something of that matter, I cant spell) Cerberus and Doppelganger are my favorite bosses.
@Black Milk: Ahh, so really it's not the graphics. Blue-Ray just makes the game appear more wider and not all tight in a box, and enhanced in content. So you basically see more. That's good enough, though.

 Re: Devil May Cry anyone?
Nefasturris and that one gargantuan zombie that chases you down the hall and grabs at you through tunnel cracks in House of the Dead have to be two of the most terrifying video game bosses in recent memory.

As an early teen, I was also creeped out by that giant head coming out of the ground in Shinobi 3........

Shit, I almost forgot about Anima from Final Fantasy X.
