 Re: Thoughts and Sharing Thread
Hello everybody!
I haven't been on much (and posting in this thread) due to the fact that I don't have much to report other than my yearly check-up with my cardiologist went well and I'm still on the job search. My cardiologist commented that it was nice to see a patient that was doing well for a change, as I can imagine dealing with middle-aged people and seniors with failing hearts most of the time can be discouraging.
My new "job coach" and I had a difference in opinion when it came to how I should implement my resume - she just might be on her way out in a few weeks if there isn't any real progress made in finding me a job (which is what the agency is supposed to be able to do for disabled people).
Honestly, I'm better off without the agency- most of their clients aren't as motivated or have the general know-how to get employed. If I met the requirements for it, I could have applied for the part-time position AT the job agency. I figure I could help others easier find work because I know where they're coming from and all that with a disability.

^^I haven't been on in a while either, mainly because my access to internet has been limited for the past few days. Oidhche-Yorath wrote: What to do. Bite him. It'll send a message. Midi: That was rude of your sister to say, and I'm glad that you're dad is okay with you being bisexual. If I was gay and I told my dad, he would probably say that I was going through a "phase", just like I am with being Buddhist, Christian, and Muslim. I hope your dad recovers from his stroke quickly. Necromantic: I saw a few pages back that you're getting a poem published. Huzzah! Hopefully I can join you as a published author one day. Fairy: I hope your situation gets better. Just keep posting, and be who you are. If it gets to be too much, maybe you could take a break from that message board for a while? I, too, am ready for this political season to be over. My mom is running for state representative (state-wide congress), and people seem to think that she won't win in our area because she's black. No one has come outright and said this, mind you, but it's been hinted at a few times. *sigh* I definitely thought we were past the point of race determining a political win, but I guess not. So far, no one has been rude to us when we go door-to-door, and I personally think it's just the state party that doesn't think a black woman can win in a mostly white area, even though it's 48% Democratic and 50% Republican. Not to mention the shitload of independents scattered about. Yeah, definitely ready for this to be over and my mom to win so she can show them that it's not impossible.

 Re: Thoughts and Sharing Thread
The bank my employer uses is having "technical issues" which mean that I will not get paid this week, this really puts a spanner in a lot of plans I had and just living my life in general until it is sorted out. Really disappointing as an old friend from college was going to be celebrating his birthday in my city, I haven't seen him in 10 years and was very excited to see him again. I guess I'll just have to keep my fingers crossed and hope I have more more money in the bank than I think I do :/

An intelligent individual will fairly quickly see the extremes that both sides portray and find the truth somewhere in the middle. Good suggestion. To make it more acceptable to him, maybe frame it this way: "You do want to hear the lies they're telling in the mainstream news, don't you?" I kind of doubt he'll stick with it though. Cognitive dissonance is painful.

That's a great idea, only it isn't going to work on someone who quite firmly believes that if it's important then Rush Limbaugh will talk about it.

Annoyed when browsing a TV app to find this. I mean : yay! Bowie night! But also : Oi! that's my Avatar! Is nothing sacred?

^^Nothing is ever sacred as long as trolls rule the world.
And trust me: trolls do rule the world.

 Re: Thoughts and Sharing Thread
I'm musing over what I can come up with for ideas in terms of self-employment. Opportunity may not ever come, therefore if there's a chance that I can create it myself . . . all the better.
My problem is, I'm a little new to the business-world. I also know that most of my customers aren't where I live at the moment. I've said it too many times on here, so I won't repeat it - but I'm stuck in a Catch 22 situation. Need a job, but need experience. Need experience, but need a job first. Would like to move out of this town and away from my parents, but need money to do that. Most of my ideas would only run *decently* in bigger cities anyway. To get to the bigger cities, I must have money, which comes from getting a job, and I'd build experience by doing that.

Nephele: I cheered when I heard that. Hopefully it will give the victims some closure and help them move on.

 Re: Thoughts and Sharing Thread
WOW. 442 years in jail. I'm not sure of the term, but isn't that called consecutive sentencing?
I'm glad this guy got convicted, but I find it a bit redundant to sentence this man of 68 years to a sentence that's more than 4x his life-span.

Nobody hires me because I don't have experience...but how can you get this experience if you are not hired? So now I'm trying to focus my attention on the master's admission. I hope I'll pass the test.

They eventually found his laptop, intentionally damaged beyond data retrieval capabilities and dumped in a river. But the DA himself? No one knows!
