Post LoZ: Skyward Sword
While I don't have the game yet (come X-mas, I had better have it - I'm doing some serious gaming this winter break), my bff was courteous enough to let me start a game on my Wii with the copy she owns. I don't know where to begin with Skyward Sword. So far, it's not as dark as Twilight Princess (yeah. I've pretty much been making comparisons between this and Twilight Princess the whole time I've been playing), but it's captivating nonetheless. The Wii Motion Plus just makes everything more intense (although, I'll admit that the precision does make you feel a bit silly at times, especially when you're trying to be dramatic by pretending that the wiimote is a sword in the real world, but you don't quite make the motion right - like did >_>), and the graphics are kind of... scary. Not uncanny valley scary, but Link conveys his emotions so vividly that - dare I say - I think he needs to start talking in one of these future installments!

I don't want to give away any spoilers, but they are mixing some of the characters' original roles up for instance, Zelda is not a princess in this game O_O. One thing that my friend thought of as a downside was how much more RPG elements this installment of Zelda has (e.g. you can't just come across a nicer sword on your journey: you have to upgrade/synthesize/level up to get nicer gear). That, and they're adding more realism to the game. I guess the creators have finally gotten around to telling us that Link can't go around carrying barrels full of crap without getting winded, so now we have a stamina bar that you have to watch carefully to make sure Link doesn't get too tired. Can't wait to test that out against the first boss battle.

Until I actually get the game for myself, I can only repeatedly listen to the 25th anniversary soundtrack that came with the game. 8)

I loved SS, I had it on preorder. While you're right, it's not as dark as Twilight Princess or what is perhaps LoZ's darkest installment, Majora's Mask, it's still pretty good and it does have its less than lighthearted moments. It's not my favorite, but I enjoyed it a lot even if a few features (like said stamina bar) were annoying. It's very heavy on the heartwarming, too. It's kind of hard for me to talk about it in much detail without giving away any spoilers, but I will say it's certainly worth finishing.

I wish I could get into Zelda, but I just can't.

The farthest i've gotten in a Zelda is Twilight Princess, where I'm currently at the Lava Dungeon's Corrupted Goron Boss.

All the bosses so far have been incredibly easy, now that I think about it.

Yes, I did find TP's bosses far too easy considering how daunting they look.

I will sound silly, but I bought this game from a friend a few months ago and still haven't played it! It's not that I don't want to, I just either am too busy or I get distracted with a different game. How much would you recommend I play it soon? Like, next time I have time to play a game, would you say, "Play SS!!" or "You can put it off, you're not missing much"?
