Post Carved-Book Art.
This guy's work....taken from old medical books, dictionaries, etc., he removes pieces to make the book into something with 3 dimensions. This is the kind of out-of-the boundary stuff I looooove!

Look at it!

The artwork is very impressive, but I have to say that it makes me cringe a bit to see old books carved up.

Not to say that you're predictable, but there are as yet undiscovered tribes in Borneo who knew you were going to say that. (From a Young Ones episode.)

Some of my FB friends had the same reaction, but consider that an old book may be termed "useless" and discarded, left to rot, have been a double, etc. and it's not so bad...is it? :(

I suppose not. Even public libraries have to discard books. Still... It gives me the willies to see old books carved up. :P

I work in an art gallery and we carry this guy: http://www.guylaramee.com/

I know what you mean about seeing old books destroyed, but I'd rather see them turned into art than recycled into toilet paper. :D

Part of me is thinking "That is horrible book abuse!"

The other part is left speechless and wanting more.

Sometimes the books are just obsolete encyclopedias... in French.
