I would simply wear spats with my jeans. There are so many different kinds of spats, I'm sure you could integrate them into your choice of clothing. I'm planning on wearing them with my sneakers as soon as I get them. The sneakers don't have a heel sticking out for the strap to rest so I'm going to duct tape it to the bottom of my shoes to hold it in place.
I never really considered them goth, though they easily fit in with victorian. I just enjoy unique accessories, in addition to protecting my brand new shoes from scuffs. Other things I wear include suspenders, fingerless gloves, pocket watches, and arm warmers.
