I love how they're ON SALE for $450, hahaha. Really pretty, but way too damn expensive for my tastes.

That's one expensive book. It does look ornate though, I'd have to have a lot of disposable income to want to buy one though.

I couldn't bear to inflict my illegible scrawl upon such a handsome tome. My grimoire was bound by me, it is a fairly easy skill to learn but hard to do really well. By writing and then binding I could ensure that every page was as good as it could be rather than agonising over writing each word.

My own Book of Shadows is found on my computer and not on actual paper, though a book such as that could tempt me to do otherwise. However, I'm sure you could find, make or have someone make a large leader bound book for you and you can simply add the ornamentation yourself. Or you could have a thick leather bound three ring binder made, print off your works via computer, but them in protective covers, and add them to the book in that manner. As lovely as the book linked to is, its largely decoration and much too big for anything I'd have use for other than to show it off, the pages forever unmarked.

Very beautiful book, though.

Beautiful, but having read how to make your own in one of Voltaire's books, I'd rather do that for much cheaper!

Well, I you folks are far too conservative, and should really consider taking on some debt in order to buy one of these. You'll use it.....really...you will. :P

(And three cheers for Midi's Online Book of Shadows! hahahaha...that's great.)

I know that book! Paint It Black: A Guide to Gothic Homemaking. In it, Voltaire suggests going to the hardware store where you can buy antique-looking brass hinges and door handles to glue to the book. It's very effective – and cheap! Plus, do-it-yourself is as goth as goth gets.

I have a suggestion for gothing up a grimoire, as well. I did this with a little decorative notebook that I sent to Legend Girl. I wanted to put a bookplate in stating it was a Samhain gift to "Stellana Neptunes" (Ledge's anagrammed dark name) from Nephele, so I found an olde-looking font (Black Chancery) and printed up what I wanted to say. Then I gently tore the paper all around the printed part, so that the edges would be ragged and olde-looking. And then I glued the bookplate inside the front cover of the little book. Voilà!

We are so lucky today when you consider the hardware stores, hobby shops, and especially computers that we can put together so much good stuff. I'm one of those old lug nuts that remembers times before computers were really around, and those that were didn't have value beyond number crunching or 8bit stuff.

Have you ever heard of Z notation? It's basically a formal, machine-readable specification language that teaches you how to phrase requests in such a way that spirits can't dick around. The downside is if anyone ever truly understands it they accidentally summon Cthulhu.

I have tried to get my ink-jet to take a blood cartridge but it keeps clotting halfway through the page... :D

And it is absolutely beautiful, and I carry it with me in my skull purse everywhere I go. My favorite thing about the book is the little accordion envelope inside the back cover. I'm currently keeping bat confetti in there.

To be honest, it's not online, just on my computer. It's a folder that have LOTS of subfolders for each subject I wish to have inside my book. It works well for me as my typing is more readable than my writing and less likely to get destroyed or lost (which happens easily in my home at the moment).

I would like to get into a holdable book eventually, but it will not be anytime soon.

It's a conspiracy I tell you, a conspiracy!

Do I need spice to understand this?
