Post Re: Scars
I had my gall bladder out at 15 (defective gall bladders run in my family), but I had mine taken out in pieces, so I only have small scars from where they stuck the tubes in.

I have one on my wrist from where, whilst trying to prevent my sister's cat from defecating in a flower pot, had it spiked on a cactus.

Also, not a scar, but I've a crooked nose from when I purposefully broke it with a large book when I was ten. I won't go into details.......

I agree centurion, I really want to know now. XD

I've got two scars. One is a big one where my port is (for when I'm getting blood, or having blood taken, or receiving chemo), and another on the upper left side of my chest (from when they were putting in my chest tube - yay collapsed lung!).

Post Re: Scars
some scary stories here, I kinda feel silly for saying my scars are scars, they's just normal kid-fell-down scars.

Well Centurion, if you don't want to tell something, then never mention "I won't tell you" "I don't want to elaborate on this" "It's embarassing" or "you don't want to know"
I can asure you, when you say that, people want to know :P
and from what I can tell, everyone here, including me (surprise surprise), are people, you kinda have to tell now :D

Great topic!!

I have a large scar going down the middle of my ribs from open heart surgery. It failed and I had to go back in for a second one the next day. The scar is very thick and stands out. I doubt it will ever fade. I have scars all along my hips from surgery there, too.

Scars all along my thighs and butt from my mother putting out cigarettes on me. My arms and hands have big jagged scars all over them from being attacked by a pitbull. I have scars all over my toes and feet because they were almost cut off from when a lightning blew up the TV I was sitting in front of. There was broken glass, pieces of metal and burnt plastic everywhere in my body from that. All my hair was burned off with that, too!

Oh, and a big scar where the shoulder meets the neck on the left side from when my ex tried to kill me. I've been through some crazy stuff!

Ouch, you really have been through quite an ordeal in life. Whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger though, right?

@Centurion: I think you'd better tell us, it can't be any worse than what I'm thinking at the moment, I usually think way over the top when imagining things like that

Post Re: Scars
I've got tons of scars- can't remember how I got most of them to be honest. The ones I do remember how I got are mainly on my hands and arms:

~ 2 inch scar going diagonally across my left hand from the ring finger knuckle- some of the lads in class were being stupid and proving how hard they were by one of them scratching another with a sharp piece of acrylic plastic. I wondered what the commotion was and joined in, resulting in being scratched myself. The lad didn't mean to cause that big a wound though. My own fault really.

~ 3 scrapes on my right forearm where I was trying to retrieve a football (soccer ball for the yanks) that was lost in someone's garden. Couldn't see over the wall so stood on a plank of wood to find that the plank slipped, resulting in dragging my arm down on the edge of the brick.

~ faded scar on my right wrist from swinging out of a tree

~ new scar on my middle knuckle of my left hand from punching a wall, not the best idea- and not just for the obvious reason

Yeah, not as major as some of the ones mentioned here- some of them (mainly the ones from surgery) I really wouldn't want to have. I'm surprised I haven't got more considering how reckless I am...

Post Re: Scars
My right hand:
Two of my fingers. One of the scars is almost completely fainted, it's just this tiny white line on my little finger because I sliced my finger with a knife while cutting something. The other one is on the finger right next to my little finger (I can't remember what that finger is called, sorry), from when I cut my fingertip with a shard of glass down to the bone. It didn't hurt, but there was blood everywhere in the kitchen afterwards. My mom nearly fainted. I have no feeling in that fingertip, but it doesn't bother me. The scar is shaped like a V and I actually quite like it. It always grosses people out when I show them.

My arms:
I have scars from cutting myself, but most people never even notices. The wounds were relatively deep, but I heal nicely when I can resist picking, so it's just lines that's kind of indented in my skin.
I have two big scars around my elbow because I scratched a couple of mosquito bites, I didn't notice that I had scraped my skin off before I took of my shirt later that day.

My legs:
One big scar on my left knee from when I scraped my knee while trying to get out of a car after an accident. It got infected, and it took a while to heal (it would begin bleeding again whenever my dad took of the bandages to clean it), and now I have a scar that covers most of my knee. That knee looks all kinds of screwed up - right under my knee it looks like my bone is protuding, like my leg is broken or something. I got a doctor to look at it when I was 13, and he thought it was broken, but no, it's just the infection that screwed up my knee joint. I rarely hurts, though, I just sometimes get a slight limp.

I also have a scar from a second degree burn caused by lye. It's one and a half year old now, but still very visible.

I have very itchy and dry skin, so sometimes I'll scratch myself when I'm half asleep. That's when I wake up with patches of my skin scraped off, and it always leaves scars because I have this disgusting need to pick at the scabs. There's about 15 or so of those scars on my legs. And of course, I have scars from my cat attacking my ankles and feet while playing, because she haven't learned that it hurts me.

My face:
I have one tiny round scar on my forehead after I hit my head on the stairs to our old house when I was a little kid. I was playing with our dog, and I tripped. I can't remember much about that, I was only 3 years old.
Scars on my jawline from a rash after being in direct sunlight. It's faded a lot, so you can't see it unless you're looking for it.
I have one right under my lips because I tripped on some stairs. I bit through my bottom lip, and also knocked out two teeths.
And one on my chin because my cat bit me when she was a kitten. That's also mostly faded now.

I think that's about it. I also have scars from piercings, but that's not interesting.

Post Re: Scars
Oh dear, where do I start? I scar really easily so this could take a while  *fetches popcorn and multiple soft drinks*

I have one on my left index finger from where I nearly sliced the top of my finger off when I once tried to make a teddy bear from felt (scissors slipped and my flesh took the flak). The scar actually looks like a regular crease in my joint, but it still feels sensitive to this day and I must have done it about 25 years ago (I suddenly feel so old!)

I have a large scar just below my left knee where I was pushed over in the playground when I was 14, I had bits of gravel embedded into my skin covering a large area and also a large chunk taken out of my leg, having it scraped clean with cotton balls dipped in neat iodine is an experience I will never forget! I got a broken arm which set crooked from that incident, too, so yay for arthritis *pouts*

I have a couple of small scars on my face from where I kept tripping up kerbs and bashing my face into the ground when I was a little kid.

I have a small vertical scar on my right shin from where I accidentally walked into a concrete seat (that'll teach me to look where I'm going!)

A small circular scar in the middle of my right arm, near the elbow... I have no idea how it got there.

I have a couple of chicken pox scars where I just couldn't resist scratching, one of which is in the crease of the skin where my nose meets my cheek (sometimes it still itches).

On the top of my right arm there is a thin, two inch horizontal scar I got from walking into the corner of our double glazed kitchen window. For some reason I seem to have paper-thin flesh as it just seemed to brush me and I started bleeding like a stuck pig!

Not to mention the hundreds of faded stretch marks I have all over my body, even on the undersides of my arms, which extend to below my elbows. I look like I've been mauled by a tiger, but you don't get to be as big as me without getting them. Being pale helps, but when I had a tan they were so noticeable, and I am still very embarrassed by them.

Lastly, there are a few deep cat scratches I got when my little guy was younger... and I just had to keep playing with him until he turned violent  Most of them are so faded I have trouble finding them, but the ones on my legs seem to stand out more than the ones on my hands/arms.

On a weird note, I have a strange blue spot on the left side of the top of my left thumb... it looks just like a tattoo dot, but I have never had a tattoo and I cannot explain just how it occurred. Bizarre :?

Ouch, painful. Arthritis isn't good either, I know from experience...

I forgot to mention one scar just below my left collarbone from a cat scratch, and one weird scar on my left middle finger where it joins the palm- no idea how I got that one. I also have a couple of faint scars from cannulas when I was younger. No idea why they scarred, they just did.

That literally gave me goosebumps. I read a Goosebumps book where someone's father was experimenting with plants in his basement. The father stayed in the basement for longer and longer hours, until one day he just remained there. Curious, the son walked downstairs only to find the father locked in a cupboard. The father then explained to the son how all the experiments he was performing went wrong and he managed to clone himself from a plant and the clones were evil, his own clone locking him in the cupboard. The father clone created clones of the father's family, including the son to replace them.

Anyway, to my point: The only noticeable difference between the real version of the person and the clone, was a small blue dot on the thumb that looked like a tattoo of some sort. It's more likely than not just a fictional book and not real. Right? D:

I guess I'll join the scar chat. o.O

Let's see, on my arms (especially my upper arms/shoulders, but also lower arms) I have self-harm marks, as well as some on my upper legs. I have various small scars from picking scabs to the extent of making them much worse. I also have a couple of self-inflicted burn scars.

As for scars I didn't cause... I have one on my arm from when my dog bit me (he was blind and it was dark out, pure accidental nip). I have one on my foot, a faint semi-circle, from when I was a little kid (between 5-8, I'd say..?) and stepped on a piece from the dissected binoculars on the ground.

I don't think I'm forgetting anything. o.O

I forgot one...a funny one, it's across my two small toes on my left foot. Not very visible if you don't know it.
I studied french vocab and that always makes me angry, and i always have pocket knives with me, I got the idea of puttting my frenchbook on the ground and throw my knife till it stiuck, which it did ,I walked out of the room, went back in, realised my sock got stuck a bit somewhere and then saw the huge hole in it that turned red...i cut off a bit of one toe and made a straight cut into the other ,bled like mad ,but didn't hurt. I didn't bother showing it to my mum and it healed nicelly.

I can now say that I threw a part of myself away...didn't keep the bit of my toe...that would have been to strange, and funnily ,my toe is back to its original shape

One on my right hand, from burning plastics and one at my left ankle when the feet stood aside in a right angle.
