Having just got back from club and looking at the proliferation of 'what is goth' threads, i'm wondering if it's a case of "Those who can, do. Those who can't obsess endlessly."
How many people here actually go out to clubs on goth night and hang out with other similarly well dressed, unusually intelligent and sexy individuals on a regular basis?

I've been clubbing a couple times, but I never really enjoyed it. I'm not extroverted enough to talk to strangers in that sort of situation, and honestly, I didn't like the "gother than thou" posturing and pecking orders. I tend to haunt coffeshops, teahouses, and bookstores though.
But as I've stated before, I'm not a goth, I'm just a prep who listens to goth music and hang around with goths

I'd probably try some discrete clubbing if there were any around. All the clubs around here are jock clubs. #(

I guess it depends on the clubs you're at and the area.
On a regional Goth mailing list I'm on the subject was broached about people seeming stand-offish, and basically a lot of it boils down to people being shy really.
The places I've been have also never really had pecking orders, or I was blissfully unaware of them which would probably have something to do with it as well. I also just don't have the time of day for people that feel they're the top of any pecking order, it usually means they're insecure and more than likely uninteresting.

i'd love to go to a club. BUT.
1) I'm too young. SNIFF i know that is why my life is spent at these boards. Maybe i could get a fake I.D., stuff my bra, cover my face in makeup so you couldn't see the childishness in my face, and go to a club! NAAAAH. lol i couldn't even pull it off considering my age (SECRET I'M NOT TELLING HA! lol well if u want to know email me crawlingbug@goth.net i luv emails but i'd like to meet other goths considering i have met NONE!!! In person that is. sad i know How i'd love a goth friend.
2) My day seems to have 10 hours in it not 24. lol. I spend the day in the house moping around and being depressed and lying to myself saying i'm happy and trying to talk about other's problems.

Time to either get a grip or get a life or make an appointment with a good psychiatrist.

Yeah, but stuffing her bra ( well, so that it looks like she has big boobies, not just surplus Kleenex) is the best way to not need an ID in the first place. :O With some bouncers at least.

But first you need to make sure to gaf tape your breasts up for the cleavage factor.

hey,
i used to club a lot when i was younger (btw, am not at all old, only 24)... i would spend a couple of nights a week at clubs with a core group of friends. you get to know the people in the scene, especially in a city with only 3.5 million people. you know the ones you like, the ones that are posers and other equally aggiating things.
i found that it was a time when my mind set was different to now. kind of like that fearless, fuck it, kind of thing. goth clubs are no different to mainstream clubs, theres just a different aesthetic. same thing though, you either drink, take drugs, find someone or dance.
i have to say that i had some amazing nights clubbing, especially when you know so many of the people there... it can be fun.
pfft, im too old and theyre too young now. they just piss me off.
Dans.

Just curious, is that Melbourne you're describing? I'd have to agree that a Goth club is just a club, but here i still find it's qualitatively different than, say, a hip hop club - though it's a mostly a matter of degree. Also here in SF there's a noticeable age range at club.

I've heard of people trading...ah, favours for entry to certain clubs. I didn't know girls actually tried to achieve this...

As for clubbing...there is always that 'gother-than-thou' tendency that intimidated. And I didn't want to step on the wrong person's boots. But I suppose Lilith hit it with her comment about pecking orders...right on, I say.
Adios all.

point well taken but i need something to cover my face up. my eyes (with proper eyeshadow and liner...) can look adult, but the rest of me looks my age. oh plus i need to grow maybe 6-8 inches?? PLATFORMS lol. big pants to cover the platforms, ah i'm a genius. lmao i just realized i dont think we have any goth clubs here!!! tiny town it is lol. my friend said she saw a bunch of goths in a hearse @ the gas station. sigh if only...
