Mmm, wouldn't mind trying that out. I quite like Jacob's Creek when it comes to wines, they can be rather good. Although, it's champagne and Buck's Fizz that's my poison. Don't mind Guinness or a good biter when it comes to beer. Wouldn't say I'm as keen on spirits though.

 Re: What's Your Poison?
At home I usually just have something quick and simple like tequila, vodka or rum with juice. When I go out I try to choose something I don't have the ingredients for at home: I had a very good Jack Rose the other night (calvados and grenadine with a dash of lemon). My bf and I try to get at least a couple of bottles of wine each month that we haven't tried before; the best by far (which I'm not sure I will ever find a match for) is Milagro sauvignon blanc 2010, made in Ramona, CA. I also recommend:
Veramonte sauvignon blanc 2010 Bear Flag Soft White Layer Cake Malbec Starborough sauvignon blanc
Ooh... and if you live in Japan or know someone who does... try and get your hands on some habushu (rattlesnake sake). Expensive but soooo yummy. Yes, there is a real snake in the bottle - a more hardcore version of a tequila worm I suppose!

 Re: What's Your Poison?
I do love good red wine. I am sometimes too lazy to pick through the morass of bad stuff, though and have yet to keep a wine journal consistently. Thus far I'd say I'm the most fond of Spanish reds such as Rioja. Bright and well rounded with a pleasant depth.
I've found myself also really liking Cognac, Brandy, Bourbon and the other comparable drinks.
Absinthe is also a must in my collection.
I do love beer but unfortunately my body has developed an awkward reaction to wheat and beer has stopped being enjoyable to me. IPA was probably my most favorite type of beer. I also enjoy stouts.
There are a few mixed drinks I care for, for some reason. A dirty gin martini is nice. White Russians are nice. I've had a few other drinks that I enjoyed but can't remember the names.

 Re: What's Your Poison?
I haven't really drank much at all since being on medication, but I used to need heavy fuel ie. straight up vodka or whiskey. I suppose in time I will try different drinks to see what suits me without the need to trim my jets all the time. I think last I remember super dry vodka martini seemed good. I'm dying to try absinthe of course.

Straight Crown, not mixed, no rocks, no chaser. I just shoot them straight. I don't generally drink beer due to calories and having to sip for hours on end. Not just because I don't like the taste of beer but because it just takes too long to drink.
My second choice is straight CC.
My friend is always trying to get me to drink mixed drinks and I can't stand them. "Oh drink this starry night, it tastes like root beer," yeah it does, terrible root beer.
To say the least, I had a bad night with mixed drinks, included with it the worst imaginable hangover someone can experience in their life time. Try sleeping on a hard wood floor while throwing up every 30 minutes. It was very unpleasant and it was not at all classy or formal like the person I try to be.
Oh, by the way, stay away from alcohol kids.

 Re: What's Your Poison?
Vodka, straight up and plain. Either that or vodka mixed with some sort of juice. Beer is nasty, wine is okay (but I have not had much wine so I cannot judge), and martinis can be decent but...eh, I guess I'm more of a hard liquor kind of girl.
If I'm gonna get buzzed (I say 'buzzed' not drunk because I don't let myself get drunk. Ever.) I'd much rather do it off of vodka than anything else.
Mr. Tony: I'm with you, man, mixed drinks are just nasty. And the ones that do taste okay taste like nasty juice.

Just give me a shot and be done with it. I think wine is alright. It's generally not high enough in % to be worth drinking for me. I guess I don't mind Mike's Hardest lemonade. I generally stop drinking after 4 or 5 shots. Some days after work I'll get a shot of crown and it will get me far given the fact that I don't eat during the day. Reminds me of how much I need to get out more.
