Post Tim Burton's Dark Shadows
I found a few pics from the upcoming movie, and apparently there will be a first appearance of the trailer on Ellen Degeneres' show today. Here is a link to a few photos:
Dark Shadows
It looks interesting; I'm certainly planning on checking it out when it hits theaters.

Johnny Depp and Tim Burton, cannot have a bigger happy <-- trailer because I have been drooling over this for the last week odd.

I'm not familiar with any of the original material, but the trailer certainly looks fun!

To be honest, the trailer has really put me off the film entirely.
When all I'd seen of it had been the pictures, I had been hoping this would be the film to rekindle my interest in Burtons films, but now I sincerely doubt it.

It's too much of a straightforward comedy from what I see, I'll probably watch it out of curiosity though.
For anyone who hasn't seen any of the original series here is a little taster of what it was like (I believe you can find the entire series on youtube), it was quite melodramatic but also atmospheric.
I don't mind that they changed the style or even tone of the original, but to me, they seem to be taking the piss out of it, and that I don't like.

Yeah, it looks silly & campy, but what the hell? I'll still see it just because it's Burton/Depp & anything they do is worth seeing at least once

I just watched this and it looks hilarious. I was worried at first that they were going to try to be serious about it, but I am glad TB decided to take the quirky route with it.

Yeah, that's kind of where I'm at. The source material was pretty much a soap opera, and I have mixed feelings about this film version. I like the updated look in a way, but I'm not liking how they took an intricate and layered gothic melodrama and went for slapstick screwball comedy. I know Burton and Depp both claim to be fans of the source series, so I'll probably see it just to see if the trailer was just designed to accentuate the goofier bits, but I'm not setting my expectations too high.

And I'm saying this as some-one aside from Dahl's widow who actually loved his version of Charlie & the Chocolate Factory (his being the only film version endorsed by the Dahl estate).

Oh, and is it just me or was that scene possibly the most homoerotic thing out-of-context on daytime television?

I was just about to post about what a nightmare the whole thing is.

& then the news came that Jonathan Frid just passed.

The one, and only, Barnabas Collins. No one else will compare.

That scene was so homoerotic that Dark Shadows slash fans must've needed panty liners to watch it.

R.I.P. Jonathan Frid. Fangs for the memories.

Thanks for saying it first. If you hadn't, I would have.

I'm going to watch some original Dark Shadows tonight in his memory. He will be missed.

As someone who watched both the entire original series as well as the revival series - I must say that I certainly will not miss this film - no matter how it turns out.

You're a little late with the news, Lachry. Moved to topic where we were discussing the late, great Jonathan Frid.

I liked the original Dark Shadows from 1966 -1971. However, this is right up Johnny Depp's alley so it will be exciting to see the new take on an old cult classic.

Hubz and I saw it last Tuesday night, and I enjoyed it MUCH more than I expected it to. There were some moments of comedy in it, but it was more serious than the trailers led me to expect. And the visuals were awesome.

I really enjoyed it, and want to see it again!

Ledge, I hope you and your man were able to enjoy the movie in its entirety without incident.

I so want to see this movie, but I have to wait for the DVD. As the general movie-going public has made it an impossibility for me to be "nice" in movie theaters any longer.
