Re: Any ideas for making curly hair gothic?
Oh, finally! I've been looking for some information like this for so long. I need suggestions really bad. My hair is like super-curly-puffy and etc. After the shower, if i blow dry it, it becomes an afro. If i straighten it, i must do it on very high temperature, like 200 or smth, because my hair is thick. And its really puffy (i dont remember ever meeting a new person that didnt want to touch my hair >.< ). Please help? I thought about dreads, but i dont really like them, and my hair (in front) is just about 1cm below the chin. Please, help me.. >.<

i didnt fint anything helpfull >.< and that sucks. for me, i think, the only way would be to go to some designer or some pro hair dresser stylist and ask for advice, or to do something with my hair, but that would cost more $ than i would ever get in my life.

Have you tried putting oil on it to help tame it down a bit?

Re: Any ideas for making curly hair gothic?
The care and maintenance of curly hair by Night Mare. A beautiful tumble of dark curls is a deeply sensual and romantic style that can appeal to many goths, but if you want that look it is going to take the investment of some time and money. For huge curly hair you want to get a really good haircut by someone that knows how to cut curly hair. You want layers and thinning, but if done wrong it makes the situation worse. Find people with nice curly hair and ask them who their stylist is. A good stylist doesn't have to be an expensive one. Results are more important that how pretty their salon is. The other thing to keep in mind, with curly hair you HAVE to do something with it. Period. Unless you are one of the 5% of people that were born with naturally beautiful curly hair you are just out of luck. Use a professional shampoo AND always condition. Don't brush your hair unless it is wet, use a large toothed comb when you do. The less weight on the hair when it dries, the curlier it will be. If you have problems with even curl a diffuser dryer attachment works really well. After it is dry don't touch it, not unless you have something anti-frizz on your hands. Don't disturb the curl formation and break it up. Individual hairs partying by themselves instead of laying in a neat tidy group is what makes frizz. Always put in a silk serum of some type, the thicker your hair the heavier it can be. If your hair is really thick and frizzy - oil works, or stuff for afro hair. if your hair is thinner then use a thinner product. My absolute favourite product is called Biosilk by Farouk. After Party by Bed Head is a close second. There are others on the market. Ask a stylist to recommend one. It may seem like professional products cost more, but they work and you have to use way less of them to get the result you want instead of wasting money on things that don't work. I worked as a professional stylist for 10 years. I saved many a head of curly hair and taught its owners to love it

Re: Any ideas for making curly hair gothic?
Well, i always wanted to have just regular, long, black, straight hair (like most of the black-metal guys have ) . Or anything gothic, or just simple would be nice. Im quite tired of having to straighten (?) my hair everyday. I use silk shampoos, oily things, those other things (after shower) that should make your hair straighter, and straighten it, and its a pain in the ass. I ussualy have to prepare atleast for 2hrs for me to go out somewhere. And I have to straighten my hair everyday, because it looks like shit. I have too much hair, and its very thick, and its so stuborn, i cant even comb it. And if i use balzams/condicioniers (or w/e those things are called), my hair gets even more puffy. It grows to the sky!! (or to the sides, but not down >.<)

Re: Any ideas for making curly hair gothic?
Hmmm I know what you mean. I used to want my hair dead straight like but whatever I used it always used to curl. (Highly infuriating!) but I gave up on it but got my hair thinned out( essential) and now encourage it to be curly. It has now gone mental with random little rouge ringlets flying off in all directions. But the curls work also for goth as long you get them the right style...(sorry if that wasn't very helpful)

Re: Any ideas for making curly hair gothic?
I honestly am facing this very same question. I have tight spiral curls that are 2in down from my shoulder. They are BLOND, ranging in all different shades (from Marylin Monroe to a dark brown) but mostly dirty blond. My parents won't let me straighten or dye it or dread lock it. I am hopeless.

Grow your bangs out about 6 inches and straighten them so they drape over your face and consider putting some color in your hair. ( I have red and platinum in right now, it looks really nice together)

I never knew there was a such thing as 'goth' and 'non goth' hair. I guess you could straighten it and/or dye it black , but I dont really see anything wrong with curley hair.

Vintage curls without heatThough the style is not obviously goth I think it would work really well. Looks incredibly low maintenance to set up once you get the hang of it. LONG video though and she talks too much

Re: Any ideas for making curly hair gothic?
I have vintage curls like that, but they're little and there's tons of them. I'm just not going to do anything with my hair, it adds an unusual old-timey Little Bo Peep look to what I wear...I kind-of like the way it clashes yet blends together at the same time. Now all I have to do is something about this frizz...

Straighten it, shave the sides. Back-comb the ever-loving fuck out of it. Mohawk. Success!

It grows to the sky!! (or to the sides, but not down >.<) I hate to break it to you, but that's just how your hair is. You sound like you have hair similar to my own, and trust me, I used to have to do the same thing. I used to hate my hair because I was raised with the mentality that black (african-american) hair=nappy, unkempt, unmanageable, ugly. So I did everything I could to straighten the life out of it. Eventually, though, I just stopped listening to other people's opinions of my hair and started wearing it the way I like to. I'm not saying that you think these things, or have self-hate or anything, but I just wanted to let you know that there's nothing wrong with curly hair. Especially thick, tightly-curled (or whatever), hair. You just have to know how to work it. Have you tried curl definers? Or gel?
