Eek, it was a toss-up between Edward Scissorhands and NMBC. It had to go Nightmare because of Danny Elfman's lyrics.

It is so hard to choose. I love Tim Burton's films so much. With the exception of Planet of the Apes all of his films that I have seen are great and full of his evident talent.
My favourite's are Nightmare Before Christmas, Vincent, Edward Scissorhands, Sleepy Hollow, Batman and Batman Returns. Mars Attacks was a good film too though it wasn't dark in the typical sense or anything that you would normally expect from Burton. I find it interesting that he came up with the whole idea for the film from bubblegum cards. As for the whole Disney thing I am glad Burton left them and does his own thing. It would have been very sad if Disney had managed to get their own way with him and watered everything he does down to 'family values'. _________________ "What is fashionable is what one wears oneself. I agree...Planet of the Apes wasn't really his best work. However, the rest of his movies were absolute magic! I love them all, and hope to soon own them on DVD.

Nightmare before Christmas all the way... though oh so hard to place it over Edward ScissorHands and Sleepy Hallow... since Johnny Depp was in both and he is soooooooo very fine

Hmm tough choice. I chose, in the end, sleepy hallow, because of the pure enjoyment of the visuals. He was able to capture the dark, classical American tale and modernize it to the nth degree. And since Danny Elfman scored the music, why wouldn't you chose this one. Agreeable, that Elfman has done other Burton flix, this one is perfectly haunting. The lighting, in its almost black n white quality, the symbolism.. nee, I digress. Go watch it now if you haven't already seen it.

I have to say the "Nightmare Before Christmas", not just because I thought it was so innocently creepy, but because my brother was scared of Jack Skellington and would cry violently if we ever even spoke of the film. Hilarious =:)

"Ed Wood" and "Sleepy Hollow" are the only ones I thought were any good. The short film he did for Disney was pretty amusing. "Ed Wood" is best.

Edward Scissorhands was good. Sleepy Hollow was also very good. And a few years ago i would of said Beetlejuice but watching it recently it seems different, not sure why. I saw Planet of the Apes last night and i didnt think it was anything special. So it has to be The Nightmare Before Christmas. It kicks ass. The lyrics are also very good, my favourite has to be when Jacks in Christmas Land and he says ''There's children throwing snow-balls instead of throwing heads''. It seems so sweet the image of little children playing in the snow, yet very disturbing when combined with them throwing heads! A brilliant film. In fact a may go watch it now.

I'd definitely go with Scissorhands. Johnny Depp's performance was great, good casting(Vincent Price), awesome set sesign,great story, the list goes on...
Nightmare's definitely a close second. Classic stop motion filming, great characters. And it was actually quite funny. I didn't like Planet of the Apes at all. _________________ http://www.cathedral13.com/ |
