Re: The Small Town Gothic Experience.
I've joined up as Orlok on the Gothic BC website. See you there, as well as here. Being in multiple places at once isn't just for gods anymore.

Re: The Small Town Gothic Experience.
Intimidation... It works for me(of course, I have an extensive juvenile record, and a reputation as the "Bad man"...) Wear B.D.U.s at day, and let your knife hang with its tip barely protruding from under your shirt. Wear leather jackets in summer, tank tops in winter. ALWAYS wear a bracelet with large spikes. Corpse paint is like war paint. Tuck your pants legs into your boots. Look as angry as you can, say nothing to anyone, unless they say something to you. NEVER back down, be ready to die, at ANY moment. at night, stay in the shadows, and be seen only when trespassing (cemeteries seem to work the best). Walk alone, and PROUD; if traveling with another, that one would Ideally be giant in stature. speak with as few words as possible, but be concise. stand up for yourself even when outnumbered.... You will likely make some intimidating allies in the process. I live in an area where the police are either terrorized by, or bribed by, the Ku Klux Klan, (population is likely around 120) when you are forced to deal with people who like to rule with fear, you need to be sure they find you too much trouble to bother... I would rather die than submit, and become one of the filth which surrounds me, so, I have lived thusly, and sacrificed much, just to look the way I want and like what I like... By the way, REAL gangsters make good company. Most of them respect the fearless, IDGAF attitude, and my even invite you to drink with them, turning them down is NOT a wise idea, however(they seem to distrust this)... But the most important thing is to remain true to YOURSELF. If you do not think you could do this, start saving for a new appartment. in the mean time, do what you must to preserve your sanity. Books, video games, internet, solitude; these things may very well become your best friend (they have helped me to avoid murder, on many occasions). In summery, I feel ya, I feel ya...

Sure reacting to violence with excessive violence works great, but if you have neither the mentality nor the physique for that it's best to find alternatives.

Re: The Small Town Gothic Experience.
ittybittybat, who are you asking?
If you were asking me, I'm not much an extrovert. I am however, trying to work on things.

Re: The Small Town Gothic Experience.
Oh sorry, you Orlok. I was just asking because everyone is saying that you should be more into yourself (stay indoors a lot, yada yada), and if you're an extrovert (like me) that would be very hard to do.
But since you aren't I assume it's all good...?

But since you aren't I assume it's all good...? No worries, it's why I asked. It is *generally* all good because for the most part I am introverted, and fairly quiet in person as well. What I yearn for is the ability to call up like-minded people, and hang out. I'm good by myself most of the time, but it does get old sometimes. I enjoy solitude for its ability to allow me to think deeply about myself, as well as the world - however, I still very much have a 'need' to connect with others. Ideally, I'd see my friends twice a week but have a day to myself once a week. The rest, would probably just be work

Ah, I see. Maybe you could write a book. That always seems to keep me from feeling lonely...

Re: The Small Town Gothic Experience.
i live in a really small country village, on the plus side this means there aren't any chav's etc and I've never felt in danger, at the moment at least. On the negative side this means loads of old people of walk round me or crossing the road when the see me coming people who used to talk to me, or thinking i'm a devil worshiper, tell me things like "even though you've made bad choice, God loves you" because dressing in black and reading books is so much worse than taking drugs ? :/

I, personally, have been thinking about getting back into poetry; It helps you to express yourself, without the need for, possibly nonexistant, like minds (not to mention, if, like me, your first impulse tends to be a violent one, it keeps you out of prison). I can completely understand the need to associate with others, however; the only thing I could think of is relocation. Maybe stay online, make friends, and save up to move closer to them (half assed idea, but, with the proper thought and planning; who knows?).
