Post Re: Vegetarian/Vegan/Gluten-Free Recipe Sharing
I apologize for dredging up a pretty old thread now, but I was hoping some of you fellow vegetarians had some recipes for the Thanksgiving time? My parents and I are finally going to spend the holiday with family, but I can't eat most of the stuff they plan to make (obviously can't eat the turkey, someone is making stuffing separate but it'll have chicken in it, etc.). The last several years I've had mac and cheese, the gel cranberry sauce (really want to make a sauce/chutney with the actual cranberries), mashed potatoes, green beans, and dinner rolls. I'm trying to lose weight and reduce my carb/sugar intake (small diabetes scare right now). Help!!!!! Please? (And if this should be a new thread, please let me know/go for it)

This year I am making seitan with Merlot-shallot sauce and wild mushrooms. Not really sure of a recipe since I am going to wing it. ;)

If you are trying to avoid the carbs/sugar, I would skip the potatoes and the stuffing. Perhaps you can make Mashed Cauliflower with a little Vegetarian Gravy. Then get yourself a Quorn Turk'y Roast. After that the green beans and any veggies being served would be ok to eat and maybe since you're being so good you can give in and have one roll. :)

Great news everybody!
Pizza is now a vegetable, I just planted one in the garden, I can't wait to have my very own pizza plant!

Not surprising at all. This is the same Congress which, earlier this month, felt it absolutely necessary to take an extended pause in discussions of our nation's sinking economy, in order to vote on and establish "In God We Trust" as the official motto of our nation.

State Senates are no better. Earlier this year when we were all waiting impatiently for the New York State Senate to give its ruling on marriage equality, the Senate delayed discussion during its session in order to rule on what it must have considered a much weightier matter: establishing corn as New York's official state vegetable.

No wonder people are sick of this shit. (Except for those who think the most important issues facing our nation are mottos and state vegetables.)

Apologies for the digression in this topic, but this stuff just crisps my tortillas.

Now I'm off to plant a grove of pizza trees and see if it'll get me the same big government subsidies and tax breaks that the government gave to millionaire Jon Bon Jovi for his bee hives.

With $5 pizzas from Little Caesar's, you would have to be subsidized to make any money. :P

Spiderlimbs, that all sounds wonderful! :) I've gotten one of those Tofurky dinner things (ArcAngel recommended those to me), so I'll mostly be eating some of that with veggies. I've been doing well on diet the last few weeks (not really losing any weight, but not gaining at least!). We are making some different sweets (low carb since my parents are both diabetic) and I'm looking for other awesome recipes. I'll post in the appropriate threads if they turn out great. *fingers crossed*

Black Milk, where do I buy my pizza tree seeds!?!?! I want a pizza plant :( And Nephele, you are my favorite. <3

Oh, this is wonderful! I am wheat and lactose intolerant, along with being a vegetarian.

Rogoth, any weight loss would be subtle, but you'd notice it over time. Hell, I've been Vegan for over a year, and I've lost weight without trying. It's not like I dropped it drastically, though. So, just be patient. Right now, you're not gaining or losing, but if you keep eating right (as well as getting some exercise), you'll notice it sooner or later.

My boyfriend is vegetarian and i'm a compassionate carnivore. We're doing this thanksgiving with his family. They're all meat eaters and put bacon grease and lard in everything!

Now, I don't eat beef, pork, or anything that isn't free range or organic. We eat a lot of Morning Star, Boca, and Amy's products. Does anyone have any ideas for something to bring to a dinner that looks like its not.... gosh! Dare I say it? HIPPY FOOD!! It's going to be a potluck sort of thing.

I was thinking about making roasted vegatables and maybe a baked macaroni and cheese? And some vegan raspberry/dark chocolate scones?

Honestly, I'd say Google some recipes. :P That's what I usually do.
