 New Nightwish Album
Just listened to their new single Storytime and was blown away. Definitely looking forward to the album and the forthcoming movie. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hBRxreQKOqw

 Re: New Nightwish Album
I'm missing Tarja Turunen. She giot a much more dramatic voice. The intro is ingenious but than starts Mickey Mouse singing.

The orchestration is great, wasn't too enamoured with the lyrics though. Will be good to hear the rest of the album though, and maybe even the movie too.

 Re: New Nightwish Album
Video was removed! Eh. I think Tarja is better off without Nightwish (or, Nightwish is better off without Tarja. It all depends on whatever side you like best), and besides, this happened so long ago. Anyway, Annette made a big improvement with her voice, but, now it sounds like I'm listening to some 80s pop rock now (her voice anyway). I guess I'll just have to listen to more of the album to make a final verdict.

 Re: New Nightwish Album
This is not a Tarja thread. She made her bed and Nightwish made theirs. SIX YEARS AND TWO ALBUMS AGO. Let's not get into this same, pointless, stupid debate that every single discussion of Nightwish inevitably turns into. After this sentence the is not point or need to bring her up or respond to this paragraph. I say this with all exasperation.
I think the song is awesome, personally. Annette has really come in to her own as a singer and vastly improved. Though, I thought she was great on Dark Passion Play it seems she has taken this to a whole new level. I'd even go as far to say this album may be the best one yet.

I saw the vid before it was taken down. Eh. When it got to the singing, they sounded like ABBA.

 Re: New Nightwish Album
Errr... The instrumental version is okay, and if the whole album goes like this, I think it'll be okay in it's inst. version (you know they will make a version). But all in all it's nothing to write home about, because it's so sweet, 'synthy', happy and optimistic that it makes me wanna throw out. I mean, it's okay to have happy and optimistic songs but this one's just overdone (for heaven's sake - 'a boo-boo scar'?!). Don't want to say anything bad about the vocals... so I'll just shut up here.

 Re: New Nightwish Album
This isn't a Tarja thread, so I will withhold my comment about Annette's costume. I will not mince my words. I think Annette is a terrible singer. Her voice is plain and flat, and does not fit in with the still amazing, dramatic instrumentals that the rest of the band are still putting out. I did try listening to this song, hoping against hope that perhaps they had redeemed themselves after Dark Passion Play, but I am still disappointed. I had to stop the song halfway. I guess I will always be listening to the Tarja-era Nightwish, but I understand her style was not palatable to everyone and Annette does appeal to a wider audience. Beauty is subjective, whether physical or auditory. They had to move on, and, well, so have I.

 Re: New Nightwish Album
The next post is a one big IMHO Heard the songs' samples on Soundcloud. Well... Bravo Nightwish! You've managed to write an album SO weak, that even Tarja couldn't save it. I must admit, Ghostriver sounds promising and Storytime is so damn catchy, but the whole album seems to go into two separately repeating forms: slightly-heavy-pop-rock roller-coaster and ballads as long as a longcat. Maybe the ballads would turn into something worthy in full version, but the others? And that song name "Turn Loose the Mermaids", where could I hear it? Can't remember... Sorry for sounding a little too pissed off I hope the full versions will be better, but it grieves my heart ( ) to see such a great band turning so weak.

 Re: New Nightwish Album
I will admit, I am more of a fan of Tarja than Annete. But I'm more a fan of the music than anything else. I have Tarja's badass vocals to thank for turning me on to them in the first place. But since I am a fan of Nightwish, I'm going to find something to like about as much of their music as possible. Annette will never be Tarja. Established. Nightwish is still Nightwish, And their music still kicks ass, as long as your social bias doesn't interfere with your listening capabilities.
BTW, not directed at anyone in particular, just a rant. not worth making a new thread over.

 Re: New Nightwish Album
I'll probably have to listen to it again. Not sure what to think about it. I really liked the jazzy, lounge singer style song though.

 Re: New Nightwish Album
I have to admit that although it didn't make me drop my jaw, the album has showed some really nice moments, especially "Ghost River" and I just can't get rid of this "Storytime" bugger. I guess the instrumental version will be a nice add to my collection
