Post Your goth idol?
Who is your goth idol? I mean, the Goth you most admire
My idol is Ian Curtis, from joy Division. His lyrics are absolutely great

Voltaire! He's dark, smart, sexy, twisted, and funny. I've been to lots of live Voltaire concerts, and hope to attend lots more.

I been o one, which was last week (and posted about it in thoughts and sharing thread).

I'd agree. Voltaire is my hero.

Siouxsie Sioux. Her style blows me away

Oh god. Three-way tie between Andrew Eldritch, Siouxsie Sioux, and Rozz Williams.

I know that Andy will deny he's goth and Rozz was more deathrock than anything else, but all three of my idols are part of the smoke whenever the flame of goth is around.

I just find all three fascinating and inspiring.

Pete Murphy by far ^.,.,.^ Although I can't really get into his solo project, he's still my favorite goth artist.

Does the person have to be real?

I was going to suggest Abby from NCIS or even the SouthPark Goth kids. (What, I like them!)

If not, then I also cast a vote for the lead singer of Inkubus Sukkubus, for personal reasons.

I've been debating who to choose since this thread was posted, weighing pro's and con's of each, and I've finally decided on Siouxsie Sioux

I found this "Queens of British Pop" documentary on youtube :
Part 1
Part 2

The world needs more like her.

The goth kids from South Park are cool. Never seen NCIS, mostly because I can't get into police/forensic shows.

Can you let me know your personal reasons?
I've tried to listen to Inkubus Sukkubus these days... They are very cool but the drum lines are all the same... that drum machine. So I quit listening to it

Okay my reasons are as follows:

1. Though they are a Gothic band, they are predominantly a pagan band. I've yet to discover another gothic pagan band quite like them. Their essence is completely their own, not shared by any I've yet to listen to.

2. A lot of their themes deal with sex and liberation, beauty in the darkness.

3. Overall, I just like what the band itself stands for. Gothic Pagans who freely write songs of sex (i.e. Erotic Angel) and other seemingly taboo subjects (Hell-Fire) that I love.

It is a band whose lyrics touch me as no band has (with songs such as Enchantment, We Belong With the Dead, Prince of Shadows, etc..), so I will always count them as idols. True their music is not for everyone and can be a bit harsh depending on who you are, but I find their music is very much for me.

Adding: Hell-fire may not be the best song for taboo idealism, but yeah- you get the picture.

Goth idol? Sounds like a bad TV show to me. My vote is for Ian Astbury, its nice to see someone hit the wall of reality and wise up (nothing to do with dissing Eldritch. Allegedly)

That's a great mini-documentary on Siouxsie! I would say that Siouxsie is my female goth idol. But above and beyond her music, she's also an inspiration for women.
