He's back! I'm really going to start laying into him soon, no one else seems bothered by it, but knowing what I know about this individual, I frankly find it chilling. No use talking to the mods from that forum though, they are useless, despite the fact they have a predator on the loose. I thought that too until i started talking about it to other women at my job and they feel the same. I'm tempted to say something to mall security, but so far its just verbal harassment and its not like they're following us into the store. its only if we stop to talk to them. Medi- The whole issue between the jews, hindu, christians, and muslims has always been about that stupid little patch of earth in the desert. Neph- When someone doesn't act like a goth (vis, conformist who doesn't like literature/education, and has no interest in the strange/morbid) then they aren't goth. Am i right? When someone doesn't act like a christian, it doesn't matter what they might say, they just aren't a christian. If it doesn't walk like a duck, act like a duck, or quack like a duck, its not a duck! Plain as that. I'm sorry if that seems harsh and judgmental but real christians are peaceful, happy, people. We don't start fights and we don't exclude people. We are of peace. I promise.

Sorry, Aurora, but you're really comparing apples to oranges here. "Goth" is not a religion – and we are NOT getting into a "thing" here about who is or is not "goth enough" to carry a goth card. And, yes, there are goths who don't particularly read a lot, or who may not listen to the right bands all the time.
I am sure that you, as a Christian, know precisely what it means to be Christian. As do other Christians who may not quite see eye-to-eye with you on some issues (homosexuality being a real stickler). But, as I understand it, if y'all accept Christ as your savior, and you have a "personal relationship" with Christ, then that makes y'all Christian. And it's not for you or anyone else to judge other Christians' personal relationships with Christ, even if you don't happen to think said Christians are quite up to snuff in the morality department. It's up to your god to do the judging.
And, yes, there are plenty of Christians who DO start fights. Y'all are human, like everyone else. No better, no worse. Accept it.

-- Nephele Well said, Nephele. My peeve today is with this stupid drought! I know that this particular area goes through this crap every so many years...that it is a cyclic thing and all...but it is really killing me! What I would give for a few days of good rain to clean the air of all of this dust!! My sinuses are killing me, and no matter how much water I drink I feel like I'm turning into dust! My hair is drying out, my skin is drying out...I'm using moisturizer, hair conditioner, etc. My road base driveway (as it is not paved) is turning to a fine powder, and I can't even take a step without my shoes being covered in dust. The inside of my car is covered in a fine dust...between the driveway and dust being pulled into the vents. UGH!!!

Re: It's Back! Pet Peeves Returns!!!
I wont just lay down and "accept it". Im tired of hearing people bad mouth christianity. It offends me and does more than "peeve" me a little. Im tired of defending myself and here is the last place I should have to do it. Christians are peaceful people. I never said they were perfect. I never said christians were better than anyone else. I never passed a judgement on those who aren't christian. Any christian preacher will tell you if someone doesn't walk that path of peace, they don't have a "personal relationship" with god. People might say they are christian. I might use the word "christian" loosely for those people (which i usually say that i am using the name loosely) My church is full of lip-service christians. They are the ones I refer to often and yes, they are immoral hypocrites and I hate them. People like that have no love in their hearts. The thing that hurts me the most is christianity is known for these people and not Lauren, who was nice to me when the rest of the youth group shunned me or Mrs. Brookshire who was always happy to see me. What offends me most is it seems like none of you take the time to know christians as individuals. You know how it feels to be type-cast into a tiny box, how can you sit there and do it to me?
If the situation were reversed, how would you feel? Would you just take your religion, your core beliefs since birth, being bashed? Would you just accept someone calling you stupid for believing in your god? No, no one would. I have always been respectful of other people's religions here but no one seems to have respect for mine. That hurts me too.

Re: It's Back! Pet Peeves Returns!!!
@Aurora0Rose...getting mad about it isn't going to change things, either. People who claim to be Christian, yet have such hate in their hearts will never listen! You think if I walked into the Westboro church and voiced my objections to their hatred it would change a single thing? People who harbor such hate aren't even listening to God!!! Sometimes, you have to simply walk away and pray, because only God can change their hearts and help them see the truth. Why do you think I left my old church? I left, because they were not following what I heard God to be saying. I left, because messages of hate were making their way to the pulpit. I tried to voice my objections, and was only met with disrespect...so I left rather than continuing to allow my spirit to be sicked by the dark spirit I felt over that place! Do I still have friends within that church? I sure do! Do I still pray for that church? You bet!!! I pray for my old church, I pray for Westboro, and I pray for any other people or faith who may have any kind of hate in their hearts that they may one day have their eyes opened and their hearts changed. When people exhibit hate, all you can do is express how you feel in a respectful way, walk away, and pray.
Yes, it upsets me when I see my faith attacked, but I just have to step back and remind myself that God is bigger, and put it in His very capable hands.

Re: It's Back! Pet Peeves Returns!!!
Aurora Rose, your accusations are baseless. No one in this thread or elsewhere on this board has "bashed" Christianity. GothicBfly, perhaps the MOST respected Christian member of our board, was not offended. (Respect to you GB.) And the summation of what I said is this: Christians are not better or worse than anyone else. We are all human beings with human frailties.
This is not a topic for religious discussion. And, frankly, I don't understand why threads that mention Christianity in any aspect whatsoever tend to erupt into tears and hurt feelings.
This topic is closed for the time being.
