Part of the message from this past Sunday..."Revolution comes from honor, not from protest." I know many don't believe this...they think that they have to run crazy through the streets. How is damaging the property of an innocent person or injuring an innocent person making one' point? The people are supposedly mad because the police shot a man...so how does throwing stuff through the window of mom and pop's bakery rectifying that? Mom and Pop were just serving pastries to their patrons or at home watching TV or sleeping when the event happened. This kind of crap ticks me off!!!

 Re: Thoughts and Sharing Thread
Yeah, the rioting. I've been hearing about businesses being burned down, racist attacks and just random acts of violence. My cousin lives in London, thankfully nowhere near what's going on though. The don't seem to be getting it under control at all, 100's of arrests, but it doesnt seem to have slowed it down.

Something I think is a bit fucked up is how America is basically numb to police shootings, while in England people seem to be up in arms about it (at least in this instance). I know Jacksonville has had several police shootings already this year. It's sad that this situation has gotten so out of control. Here's an Article I found on it.

Something not quite as dark that's going on at the same time is that apparently Asian and Turkish family's have lined the streets and chased rioters away from their homes. To quote something a friend posted on twitter : "Bloody immigrants! Coming over here, defending our bouroughs, communities, children and loved ones!"

It depends on where you are, and who is shot. Around here, people get all up in arms if a young black man is shot, even if it was 3:00 a.m. in a bad part of town, running from or attempting to shoot at cops after being caught in suspicious activity, and the kid has a record. Right off, it will be called a racial shooting, and that is all you hear about for days, or even months, on the local news! Then people go on that the cops wouldn't shoot a white person in the same situation...but the problem is, they do shoot white men and/or women in the same situation...you just don't have the NAACP involved and a big deal about it all over the news and the papers. It MAY be a briefly mentioned, if at all.

That's True, Gothic Butterfly... but that I'm aware of it isn't so out of control that riots are taking place and businesses are being burned down. I feel for all the people have lost something/someone because of this.

I feel for all the people have lost something/someone because of this. No, not in Texas. There have been a couple of instances in L.A...1992 for the whole Rodney King thing. There were the riots when the Lakers won in 2000 and 2009. Even more recently, a group of youth started a riot when they were not allowed entry to a film premier! Seriously? I, too, feel for the innocent people who must now deal with property damage or the loss of friends or family over all of this. It is senseless violence!

 Re: Thoughts and Sharing Thread
I wasn't aware of those events, I mainly just know about Jacksonville. I think the only time (that I can remember) when there was a riot here is when the Super Bowl came here.

 Re: Thoughts and Sharing Thread
Yeah, Los Angeles seems to be the more likely place for riots in the US. Not quite sure why, however.

The famous LA riot killed nearly sixty people and was the reason why OJ got away with murder [the jury said after the fact that they found him not guilty because they were so afraid a guilty verdict would trigger another race riot]. A big thing that is working to the Brits' advantage is their criminal elements aren't militarized like ours are. Three days and no shooting deaths linked to the riots have yet occurred. We see more violence in Philly on a normal weekend. Just recently a guy on a city bus offended a girl on a bus so she called her gangbanger friends to have him offed. So they get to the next bus stop and unload two automatics into the bus [while this girl and her baby were still on it]. Granted they couldn't even do that right and succeeded in missing everyone on board. But LA in '92 was just like what's going on in London right now, only with more violence. The criminal elements of society used the riots as an excuse to steal everything in all the jewelry stores & electronics stores. The Dr. Dre track in the Natural Born Killers soundtrack was about that. Crazy time to be in LA. Everyone was armed to the teeth after 92 expecting it to happen again. Luckily, it didn't.

 Re: Thoughts and Sharing Thread
I actually heard about the bus incident. I heard the offending comment was the person telling the woman that they were going to call CPS on her because she spanked her kid on the bus (that's what I heard from second-hand sources anyway).
I'll look up what happened in '92! Thanks for bringing it to my attention! And I kind of figured that OJ got off because of his race- but I wasn't aware of exactly why it was so at the time. Thanks, Sgath and Gothic butterfly!

 Re: Thoughts and Sharing Thread
The third Night. London is burning. Riots in 11 districts and in Birmingham. The same shit like in France a few years ago. I wonder what will happen when they reduce social wellfare more and more and the police budget about 20%.

If they cut too much and the people still have no way to support themselves, that could easily bring about the end of the government itself.
