 Re: Bands you hate.
Hole. Everything about Hole. The music consists of watered-down rejected songs from Nirvana. Courtney Love's voice sounds like a dying cat's final screams as a car slowly inches forward over it. The first CD was mediocre-okay-ish, and everything after that just got... Well, I can't really be kind to it. It just got really, really bad from there. Of course, I'll keep my "Courtney killed Kurt" theories to myself. Music-wise, I hate this band.

 Re: Bands you hate.
They weren't all rejected Nirvana songs, the third and fourth albums have rejected Smashing Pumpkins songs

Psyclon Nine.
Where shall I begin? I hate the ugly, gangly, boring image. I hate looking at "Divine Infekt" and wondering why it's not "infection," while giggling about the substitution of "k" for "c," oh noooooes, eviiiiil, Nazi spelling. I hate reading, typing, and listening to "Crwn Thy Frnicator," holy crapspeak, Batman! I hate the silly, angry, Jesus-hurt-me lyrics. I hate that Da5id Din had anything to do with it. And above all, I hate the incessant, baby-frequency screaming. May Psyclon Nine forever rest in pieces.

 Re: Bands you hate.
I feel aggrotech is like the EBM scene's response to nu-metal at times.
Very similar songtitles, very similar image, same lyrics/subject matter, distorted version of the same vocal style, same overhype, tends to appeal to the same age demographic....

Not sure if this has been posted before. Didn't feel like going through a mountain of posts.
Nirvana
If I have to hear one more time about how amazing and artistic, influential that band was. I might just shove screwdrivers in my ears. I have ALWAYS hated nirvana since I was 10. Hell I might give Courtney Love a medal......

Oh, they were influential, alright. As good as they were at the time, I think they actually set back Alternative music a bit. Everybody became a clone of them instead of continuing the trend toward innovation and musical experimentation. I'm not saying I don't like Nirvana; I do. I just don't think they were as face-meltingly awesome as they were made out to be. Same thing for Soundgarden (much as I thoroughly enjoy their work) and Bush, really. Good stuff, but nowhere near as ground-breaking as, say, Black Sabbath in their heyday.

Justin Beiber, Disney pop singers, SOAD (one of the guys I went out with a couple of times loved that band, and he turned out to be kind of stalkery so yeah), and that's about it.

Re : Nirvana Were they influential? Incredibly so, thats not even debatable. Were they good? Matter of taste, I say no, The Pixies did everything Nirvana did, and better...5 or more years earlier. Kurt Cobain is prettier than Frank Black though... Nirvana were awful live too, saw them supporting Sonic Youth, just dreadful.

We all know the real reason Nirvana has been elevated to musical godhood and The Pixies are still an underground success only: Cobain is dead and Frank Black is still breathing. I refer to this as the "JFK Effect". As long as we're talking about wildly popular bands who are given way more credit than is due them, mind if I toss Dave Matthews Band and Blues Traveler onto that list? I like 'em, sure, but nowhere near as much as others I knew did, and I never understood why they were so popular.

 Re: Bands you hate.
I really like only one song by Dave Matthew's band.
Also Brows Held High has a great review where he said Nirvana was responsible for Nickleback. Go watch it. It's for Doom Generation and it's quite good.

Credit were credits due though, Kurt was always honest about it, he always said they were ripping off The Pixies, not his fault nobody listened.
