Post Limbal ring
(yoinked from another forum)
Psychology today article
Quote:
The very young have the thickest, darkest limbal rings. Which is exactly the point.
The limbal ring serves as an honest signal of youth and health -- desirable qualities, reproductively speaking. The ring fades with age and with medical problems.  It's thickest from infancy through the early twenties.  A thick, dark limbal ring may make us appear younger.  It makes the whites of the eyes whiter.  This might be why so many people think light eyes are so sexy:  the limbal ring, when present, is more prominent.

I don't seem to have any (I'm sure it's impossible to literally not have any, they're just too faint to see), which according to the article doesn't bode well for me, for many reasons :(

What are you're thoughts?
Feel free to share links to your eyeball :P

I think they've taken a very black & white view of what is attractive, not everyone finds the same things attractive...but then, I would say that, wouldn't I? ;)
As for age being a factor, I don't think I've ever had any, but I can't be 100% sure.

I still have a pretty dark ring around my eyes and I'm in my early 30s. Will link a bigger pic tomorrow since it's almost class time.

I do have visible rings, although they look more dark greyish than black. They don't show up well in photographs, though.

I checked my eyes and it turns out that I have very dark thick rings...Hmm. does this mean I'm sexy? I need to take a picture, but my camera's broken.

Nope, I can't see any rings on my eyes. At least, I don't think I do. I have a little darker green around the edge of the iris, but not noticeably so, and I don't think that counts as a limbal ring. I shall have to see if I can get a pic up any time soon.

I have the limbal ring! I tried twice to take a picture of my eyeball, but each time the flash made me squint and I went OW! I'm seeing spots in front of my eyes now. So, y'all will just have to take my word for it that I've got those ringy things.

I thought the same, Nephele. Who needs a new piercing when we have such think rings in our eyes?

Okay who am I kidding, where's the nearest tattoo parlor!

Okay, okay. I'll behave Milk.

Here's mine. I'm not sure if it's dark or not. Meh. As I feared, I'm only young-ish now. :0(

I have a really thick one, and I'm often mistaken for much younger than I am so maybe there is something to it. My mother's psychiatrist she met the other day (long story but she's seeking help after a manic episode) refused to believe she was in her 40s. My mom has bright green eyes with a super dark ring like this. Interesting. ^_^

Here's mine (forgive the slight blurriness, I had to crop and enlarge another photo.

My limbal rings seem to be a kind of blue, and not black, so I'm not sure what that means

Mine seem to be dark blue against a pale blue/green iris.
