Any other fans of the genre here?

 Re: Black Metal
You mean like this? I'm a big fan of roaming in forests. On a serious note, I like to listen to it for the lulz. Used to have a compilarion made by a friend who's huge into it. He also has the baddest Eldritch tattoo on his calf that I've ever seen. EDIT: He also introduced me to Funeral Dirge.

 Re: Black Metal
I've been into the dark side of metal (black, death, doom, etc.) since I was musically conscious, so naturally black metal's has a profound impact on my life as much as goth or industrial has.
Personally, just like the goth and industrial scenes, I ted to prefer the older era, when there was more of a sense of dark experimentalism and adventure.
And of course, being a diehard lover of Tolkein and medieval fantasy, how can one NOT fall in love with the Morgoth/Sauron-ish aesthetic presented by bands such as Summoning, Burzum, or early Emperor?
Most people in the goth scene tend to approach the genre with a stick due to three main factors: the joke/parody image that "mainstream" black metal bands like Cradle of Filth, Dimmu Borgir and Behemoth have cursed it with, the glorification of violence and murder, and finally, the neo-nazi trend that's seemed to have spread from Poland outward.....
Personally, I take none of that nazi nonsense seriously, and the more people become offended by it, the more they give it voice and attention that movement craves. It's a joke ideology, really.

 Re: Black Metal
I hardly can't hear Rock'n Roll any more. Sometimes it's a good brainwash. There is almost an area for Black/Deth and Doommetal in the more area clubs. I like to show the headbangers that it is possible to dance that s***, for a song or two. Of course i love it in the right mood but with 50 it is difficult to switch in the killing mode.

It's actually a subgenre of it's own and to be honest I've listened to one song from the genre and I have to say, while I don't take it seriously, I do think it's slightly disturbing.

 Re: Black Metal
While I love many forms of heavy metal, especially that in the Thrash and Death metal scenes, I honestly can't stand black metal.
I found it to be more goofy and annoying than anything else, some may find this weird coming from a guy who enjoys listening to Cannibal Corpse (Though I must admit, they were in their heyday when Chris Barnes was on vocals, they took a turn for the worst with George Fisher, though I still listen to them with him singing)

 Re: Black Metal
I'm a fan of Black Metal, safe to say. I like many genres, though.

I like Graveland, Burzum, and Nokturnal Mortum, though I don't think they really count, as the music focuses on Paganism, antichristianity, and other usual black metal themes, rather than their retarded racial attitudes, so Graveland, Burzum, NM, Temnozor, Kataxu, etc. would count as just "black metal" in my book, while NSBM would mean bands like WAR88, Grom, Der Sturmer, etc. who basically play Skrewdriver music with raspy vocals, who have little room in my music collection. As for many who can't stand black metal, I can understand why, seeing the goofy parody the popular bands have turned it into. Personally I like it due to it being a lot closer to darkwave, neofolk, and industrial noise than the traditional "rock" aesthetics and structures of other metal genres.

 Re: Black Metal
I do like the TRVE KV0000LT UNT EV000000LLLL bands, these cheesy, pathetic (as in pathos) and naive lyrics and the looks of their 'singers' are hilarious. But there are some bands that do catch my attention, like Arcturus, Ulver, Thorns, Dies Irae, Borknagar, Solefald, Enslaved, Manes and even some Mayhem. But in general, it's not my cup of tea...

 Re: Black Metal
I LOLed so hard.....good ol Call of the Wintermoon. I can't say Im into Mayhem or TK style of BM. Im more into the prog stuff. Enslaved and such. I've also been impressed with Burzum lately. Vargs music seems to have matured alot. Of course he also just got out of prison after 19 years. That must be a lot of pent up creative energy. Mostly Im into the moody, atmospheric, melodic BM.

 Re: Black Metal
Generally when it comes to black metal, I prefer the old school Norwegian scene, as well as the Austrian(Summoning and the like) and early Polish scenes(not the hardcore nazi shit like Dark Fury, but I like the more dark/epic/pagan stuff like early/mid-era Graveland, Infernum, or Veles) Once in awhile a great new crossover-type band comes along to pique my interest, such as Nortt or Darkspace.
I guess honestly, you could say I'm more into "atmospheric black metal" than anything else. The brutal blast-attack stuff like Dark Funeral or Tsjuder tends to bore me, and I despise the mainstream Hollywood sound of newer Dimmu Borgir, Cradle of Filth, or Behemoth.

The Norwegian scene brought perhaps the best Black Metal bands and songs in all of it's history.

E Nomine, maybe something along the lines of darkwave, but not? I'm not so sure. Children of Bodom is kind of like thrash metal, but not exactly.
