I don't really give a **** about sports, but I do live in the Greater Vancouver area. To see the stupidity that some people are displaying at this point... makes me sick. How on earth does burning police cars and looting stores do anything for your hockey team...stupidity...
grrr... ranting, sorry... No, no, rant all you like. Stupidity is a goth-wide topi of interest, I do believe. -- Thu Jun 16, 2011 8:33 am -- *topic (cringe)

The biscuit / drugstore beetles are back in my kitchen. I did not expect to see a big fat one in my tea cupboard just now. Ewww, yucky!

grrr... ranting, sorry... Didn't have much to do with each other actually. There were a handful of, what I like to call "want to be anarchists" who use situations like these as an excuse to cause chaos in the streets, bash heads with a few cops, that sort of thing. The main instigators in Vancouver came prepared for vandalism with improvised weapons, arson accelerates and what have you. Then once you have that degree of vandalism going on there's usually a fair share of people who will join in either for sport or for the shake of thefts [thinking it will allow them to get away with it] who would have normally never started anything on their own. As Jean Shepherd explained back in the 60s, when you have a group of people who are angry at the system usually all they'll do is sit around and complain. For more than that you need a catalyst. Someone who listens to the conversation, picks up some torches, and then says "well you guys, I have had it: I am off to burn down city hall; why don't you come along?" and then storms out the door to do exactly that. I think that's fairly true but beyond that if you don't have the right audience all you get is a crazed lone Joe Stacks with no one eager to join in.

 Re: What makes you cringe?
Not so much a cringe as it is a very heavy sigh: Seeing long hair parted down the middle. Weird, I know, but for some reason, the look just looks very boring since the hair usually lays very flat and lifeless. I find this even truer for men... I much prefer see people with long hair with it parted on the side, adding a little more style, body and movement to it. Not sure if this was said: Chewing (especially gum) with one's mouth open. Or worse yet, speaking with something in one's mouth. I once knew a girl that chewed gum open-mouthed, played with the gum between her fingers, and placed the gum back in her mouth... Routinely! I also can't due jewelry with spider designs. I find them pretty, but I hater spiders too much to wear them. Though, I like spiderwebs... as long as they are empty.

*shiver* I can't stand gum. Seeing wads of it. Hearing people chew. Why must they chew with their mouths open like cows and let you SEE that nasty stuff! And then.. urgh! It makes it so horrible to go out in society. THEY POP it. SEVERAL TIMES! WHY DO THEY DO THAT?! It's to piss me off.
I love spiders. I want spider bling.

Japanese boys wearing plastic headbands or hair clips with pink jogging suits. Jeans hiked down so you can see boxer shorts.
I kinda agree with Prophetfae about hair parted down the middle, but usually only when it's straight, and done with that boring tucked-behind-the-ear style. It's not so bad when it's permed, dyed, or with a little added wave and volume to it. I permed my hair a couple months back, and now have it layered with bangs. True, it's not "with the times" but I've always preferred hair with a bit of an 80s aesthetic to it anyways.

Insisting on wearing/dressing goth in situations that really don't merit it and then crying over how no one accepts you. I like edgy, dark fashion a great deal but my clothes are not "who I am".

 Re: What makes you cringe?
My mom. Every time I see a cute black top that I simply HAVE to have or I listen to The Cruxshadows or anything particularly gothy she imitates me saying stuff like "OOH! It's goth! I NEED IT!" I don't like things because they are goth, I like them because I like them. And just because it's goth, doesn't mean I like it. Example: I don't like The Cure. She thinks I am trying to obtain some sort of image by buying goth stuff and watching The Addams Family ninety times a day when really I only do such things because it makes me happy. And I REALLY hate how just because I am a teen goth people assume I'm a mall goth. Sure I shop at hot topic sometimes but that's the ONLY place I can go where people don't look at me weird. I like shopping at good will WAY more than I like shopping at Hot Topic. I wish mall goths didn't exist so that I wouldn't be framed up as one

Prove that this hair style exists on your head. And you two just described my hair so bite me.

Mine too! It's so long and fine that to get any volume at all I'd need a socket and a fork. Yeah, it'll tangle when I try to part it a different way, but it slips silkily out of any amount of backcombing and spray.

 Re: What makes you cringe?
I have a centre parting but I also have a V fringe and luminous pink flashes in with the black. Pics on my website: http://www.madamedees.co.uk/about-me.phpCant see my parting in that picture though. My recent thing that has been getting to me is fake tan. Im not opposed to tans. I currently have one. Buts its all natural and from a day in the sun yesterday. My reason for disliking this whole fake tan craze is people of my colouring that go for really dark ones. I will never be golden. Im currently what most people would don a normal colour. You have a fake tan when your my colouring and you go orange. A simple sunbed (if you are so vein you wish to give yourself skin cancer) would give a much more effective result.
