How vaudeville! Wonderful.
Hadn't heard of this band; torrenting an album as we speak.

A little Beatles anyone?
Dig a Pony / I Me Mine - Laibach

Quite a different interpretation.

Mine would have to be Unto Ashes' version of Don't Fear the Reaper.

I like HIM's cover of Wicked Game by Chris Issac... and I agree with Wolfie about TON's cover of Cinnamon Girl, too :D

There is another cover version flying about in my head, that I heard yesterday but I can't remember the artist

After making my quick list for the new "Cover Thread" it was pointed out that most of these songs probably belong here... A few of my favourite covers right now...

• Bauhaus (covering David Bowie)- Ziggy Stardust - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6a_YQXFs7Ts

• Nine Inch Nails (covering Joy Division) - Dead Souls - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RWs8kdGUgDg

• Placebo (covering Kate Bush) - Running Up That Hill - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4KEEXyRL0qE

• Collide (covering Love & Rockets) - Haunted, When the minutes drag - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r9ki9_69nl8

The Passenger
Much more prefer the Siouxsie & the Banshee's version to the original Iggy Pop song.
Some people really hate me for that
Also I prefer The Banshee's version of This Town ain't big enough for both of us from The Sparks

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who feels that way about The Passenger. Yay!!!
Also, the little snippet of The Passenger from Bauhaus's Gotham DVD is really good (too bad it's not the whole thing).

While I haven't really listened to them much, AFI used to be my favorite band from like 2003 to 2009 (then I saw Peter Murphy live...and the rest is history). But, they did a pretty decent cover of Just Like Heaven...in the presence of Robert Smith even!

It's very well done, quite possible the most accurate cover, (of any song, by any artist) I've ever heard. I remember watching it years ago... It's not often a band covers a song in the same key, in it's original composition... I would probably consider it to be more of a "Tribute" then a cover.

for anyone interested in said cover.

The music itself sounds great, I just couldn't take the vocals.

Can't let this pass without mentioning the Tainted Love cover by Soft Cell.

I have been thinking on this for a while and I am a bit shocked to admit it, but I think I prefer Inkubus Sukkubus's cover of Spellbound to the original song done but Siouxsie and the Banshees.

Cover

Original

If it helps though, I will always prefer Siouxsie's original of Nightshift as opposed to the cover done by, I think Switchblade Symphony.
