Amazon is one of the best CD stores in the world. It has almost anything and cheep, there for I buy most of my CDs there. Recently Amazon stopped selling things to people living in Israel. They say new American laws forbid them to send anything to Israel. In my opinion its bull shit. What do you think, is it discrimination? Racism? Or are they really telling the truth?
What do you think should be done about it?

You have a right to have this policy explained to you..In my opinion anyway. Call me a crazy American, but I would be angry. and probably boycott Amazon. and if so inclined start some kind of action against them..Course that takes money..or knowing a lawyer who works for free.

Still I would request that the written policy be sent to you, just to see if they actually respond

A lot of people may care. Just because you live in the United States and don't experience this doesn't mean it's right for Amazon to be doing this.

I agree with SisterSandy. It is unfair to you that you all of the sudden can't order because you are from a specific country. I think you should do what she said and see what happens. Good luck :)

That's bullshit. Pure and simple. No such laws exist, especially for simple things like audio CDs.

Does CDnow.com or BN.com still ship to Israel?

As for where it originates, there's some wierd shit going on in the US related to Israel. On one side, a good amount of Americans support the IDF because of a reaction against Muslim terrorism (and a sizable amount of anti-Arab racism) related to 9/11. On the other hand, there is a lot of anti-Semitism, because of piddly little shit like bullet pockmarks in the Church of the Nativity. It's also become en vogue among the American far-left to draw parallels between modern Israel and Nazi Germany, and even make jokes about the Holocaust (as someone at a party recently did to my face) because "Jews are barbarians too." And then there's a third side: a lot of blue-collar Americans are now saying such things as "fuck them; I hope they all kill each other. Just make them leave Christian churches alone." I don't know the politics of Amazon.com's owners, so I can't say which of these angles they represent.

Well, like everything else, buy from the competition and prove that just because you live in a country that pussy Amazon is afraid to ship to doesn't mean that you're just going to roll over and take it.

Contact Amazon and ask them to explain their policy, they should at least have some kind of statement regarding it.

You could also check and see if Amazon.co.uk will ship to Israel, the shipping time from the UK would be shorter I assume and they might not have the same policies as their American counterpart.

Buy from other places... bn.com, towerrecords.com, cdnow.com and numerous small online goth/industrial related stores etc. etc.

A note to both SonOfStoker and Angelbane... if you can't say anything of use, please don't bother responding.

The US isn't listed in that additional countries list, and sure as hell isn't the European Union, and I've had items shipped here from amazon.co.uk several times (those times where I want UK over US versions, like Harry Potter (Philosopher's stone)... or for specifically UK authors).

I'd still email them and ask, they'd be another place to question the policy too.

I'd be pissed if Amazon wouldn't ship into my country... oh wait it doesn't.... ok I'm pissed now... :p

no, seriously, this is a load of bullshit they're doing... you should definitely ask for some sort of an explanation... after all, I'm getting curious what would be their explanation? that you might order anthrax over Amazon.com? and attack US with it later?
