 How to dance?
Okay,I have used the search features of the site and I have dredged through the (relevant) forums and I seriously can't seem to find anything on "how to dance gothic".Okay,a couple things before I start getting flamed: 1) Yes,I know, there is a handy little search bar at the top of my web page and I can search the web.I've tried,I don't know whats legit and whats "southpark" (okay,I can actually tell that some sites are fake and all). 2)And yes I know that to dancing is not something you need to do to be goth (goodness how I'm really starting to hate labels) but that brings me to why I'm even posting this: As someone who's never been to a club or event and has only ever done "Baby Bat head banging" I just am strongly curious as to what there is and isn't,thanks in advance! (and here comes the part where a mod gives me a link to a topic that already discusses this that I so happened to miss.Oh,and the reason I posted this in "Domesticated" is because at least ball-room dancing is.)

http://www.lilithgallery.com/articles/g ... thic1.html Honestly, I have no idea. Just get drunk and shake your ass without caring how you look? I don't dance, but sometimes recently I've just been dancing ineptly by myself when nobody can see. Just for the joy of movement because the music was making me move in time. Alternately. " The only cool way to dance is to keep your hands by your sides and your eyes looking at the ground, then every three seconds take a drag on your cigarette." Sorry, couldn't resist the two jokes

Okay,I've been figuring as much,I usually dance like that anyway even though my family/friends look at me like I'm nuts (Thank God I'm not Batty just yet)

Hmmm... When it comes to dancing, I live by Schroeder's motto:
"Musicians don't dance."

 Re: How to dance?
If you are uncertain about your dancing skills, you can either be the dark, brooding gentleman with a drink in his hand at the bar.
Or you do that for a while, watch the other people dance, and then steal some moves from them when you enter the dancefloor (try not to make it look to obvious). Listen to the music, it will "tell" you how to move.
Just remember that dancing is not obligatory to be a goth.

Just remember that dancing is not obligatory to be a goth. I was going to say just that! This is a great example on how to build up from doing something basic like the 'lame 80s shuffle' Adam is doing here with his twists, jumps and turns. *mops drool off keyboard* -- Thu Apr 07, 2011 1:53 pm -- Minnie d'Arc wrote: Hmmm... Dance, don't shuffle! Hmmm... Reminds me of Fire Island in Edinburgh, back in 1984/5...

 Re: How to dance?
Ok,so the two things I've learned is "if in doubt, dance like the 80's" and "Stay in school, don't do drugs"

 Re: How to dance?
Looks like your all set! Go get 'em Tiger!! Really though, isn't the point of dancing to have fun and/or express yourself? Do whatever you want, whatever feels right to you and in my opinion you can't go wrong. If that means getting weird looks for doing the Macarena to Cities in Dust, well, so what? I don't think you need to drink to dance either, in fact it would probably be safer for all concerned if you weren't drunk while dancing, especially if bringing accessories like glow sticks to the floor

 Re: How to dance?
Are you implying that I'm a danger to others?

 Re: How to dance?
We danced like that in the 80's to pretend we were on drugs.
