It has Samurai swords... So of course I want to see it.

I trust the reviews at Rotten Tomatoes and they only gave it a 20%. Even my friend who LOVES crappy movies said it sucked.

I think I'll hold off and rent this one.

Awww. I was hoping it wouldn't suck. I hate when movies suck. I want to make my chick flick/independent movie with aliens.

If I was in middle school, I would be rushing to see it since it has a girl in a cute school uniform with a sword(I was so Asian obsessed back then), but now it just looks like one big fan service. I like more depth if I want to see an action movie, but I might rent it for a good laugh later.

It does look good, i love Zack Synder's artistic direction. How me manages to blend comic book elements into movies. Although this has also failed in the past because certain graphic novels like the Watchmen were never meant to be turned into action films due to it's complex political plot. Then again the flim hasn't gotten good reviews 20% on Rottentomato....even red riding hood did better on reviews. Maybe i'll go see the Lincoln Lawyer instead

Finally remembered this thread. Organized I am not.

There are many...controversial parts to it, which I won't mention because of spoilers. I really liked it, though - the soundtrack was amazing, the acting was all at least passable, and it was so pretty. Both the scenes and the girls. Can't say more without spoilers.

But I would recommend seeing it. It's thought-provoking if nothing else.

I keep seeing people saying "HOT GIRLS WITH SWORDS & GUNS=GREAT MOVIE!"

I heard that it's a lot more than just hot girls and guns. It's supposed to be "women empowering" but that doesn't sound right. :/

Interesting. But usually these days women empowering equals half nekkid chicks so men (and lesbians, and bi sexuals) can enjoy it too...

I'm not against hot girls with guns and swords. I like the movie Sin City, after all, though it's soooo violent. I'm glad most of it is black and white.

Hmm... Chrome, your post just brought me into the discussion. "Half nekkid chicks" does not - to this lesbian, at least - equal either "empowerment" (how is turning a women ionto a lust object "empowerment", regardless of whether she's carrying a sword and beating crap out of people), or enjoyment. If film producers seriously think that way, they really, really, are out of touch.
