I was going to just ignore this, but damn, that was offensive since my mom died of that. Granted if a woman has AIDS she should not breast feed if she just gave birth (gos help the child and may the child be AIDS free) but still..that stung a little.

Moving on:

I will be serious in my post as I cannot pun very well.

Women who want their children to be breastfed will sometimes go through extremes to see to it that their child gets breastmilk, even if they cannot provide it themselves. It is proven (I think) that breast milk IS better for a child than some formula that is man made.

I tried to breastfeed my kids only after a lot of pressure, but it didn’t work out (not going into details on that). However I did NOT seek to buy milk from another woman through means which I think have already been mentioned here, but I won’t condemn or make fun of a woman who has.

Breast milk is natural. Just like goat’s milk, cow’s milk, etc. That does not mean I personally would want to drink it, just that it comes naturally therefore I think can in ways be healthy (my own person opinion) for anyone with that kind of…taste.

As for taste, the breastmilk actually changes taste based on what a woman eats as well as her mood (if I remember correctly) which is why sometimes a baby will ‘latch on’ while other times (s)he will not, because the taste changes and the baby will sometimes need to get use to the unknown taste.

So to put it in ice cream, or dare I say any food, you will NEVER quite have the same taste all the time. So making big batches of ice cream that is created by a. 1 woman over a certain amount of time ( I doubt many women can breastfeed constantly. You go dry after a while I would assume, or else you’d suffer from EXTREME nipple pains. And trust me, nipple pain can be..well not something a person wants to feel) or many women over the space of a little time.

Either way, emotions and food will change. It can ruin the taste of the ice cream- or enhance it, but either way, the consistency of the flavor within the ice cream gallons, etc… will not be the same. Some parts of the gallon will possibly have one taste, while another part has another taste, etc… It really just depends.

For this reason I do not think that breastmilk will be a very smart choice for ice cream. Its taste is too varied and can sometimes just be too extreme. Besides not all kids like breastmilk. My son absolutely refused, for instance. So to make them eat it ‘unknowingly’ is just wrong and could make them hate ice cream. And besides that, the only ones who really need breastmilk are babies (NOT Toddlers, by the way. I don’t support a female letting her 5 year old suck her breast still.).
I wish I knew more about breastmilk but I know. All I know is that it is natural and great for babies.

However, like semen, I think that if someone wants it in their food, they should do it themselves and not subject everyone to it.

Evidently this trend has spread to Ireland - I note one of our very own moderators has now entered the ice cream business...

Yes, but at least Black Milk's ice cream isn't made of titty squeezings. (At least, I don't think it is...)

It appears to be made of squeezings from his very own, dark, dark gothic heart.

Generally speaking; in the US wet nursing has been criminalized. Everything is supposed to be done under regulations through milk banks, and milk banks don't pay for donations like sperm banks do. So there's not a lot of incentive for people to donate to begin with, and then their screening process has a lot of pointless things in it [same can be said for the way people handle blood donations] that keep some people who would be safe donnors from donating.

Oh, I agree completely. At first I was really iffy about breastfeeding, I won't lie. But many people wanted me to at least try- so much so that they bought me a bunch of baby books which were mostly about the benefits of breastfeeding. And, believe it or not, I read them. After reading them I figured I'd try when my daughter was born. I would have tried with my son as well had my body been capable of it. If we were living in ancient times, I am pretty sure my kids would have starved if they had to depend on my breastmilk. I was very mad at myself because I couldn't do it actually.

I know that our local WIC (Women, Infants and Children) office encourage breastfeeding and after I read about it, I can understand why. Formula is man made and does not even come CLOSE to the natural milk that a mother provides her young. When I first read the back of a formula can I cringed. My baby is so tiny and I'm putting ingredients I cannot even pronounce- things that are completely unnatural into her body as soon as she's born? Yeah, THAT was a cringe moment for me and one of the reasons I was mad at my body for not being able to breastfeed. But I soon got over it and used the formula.

Now, to get back on subject:

Like I said, I approve of breastmilk. I think it is the healthy choice. BUT that is in regards to your child. I still think that if a person wants to put it in ice cream then it is their choice but it should not be sold to people who haven't the slightest idea that it is made with breastmilk. Sure I can imagine many people (both with fetishes, weird tastes in food, and small toddlers) would enjoy this product and not have a problem, but for the rest, I think that ice cream (and other foods) is a dish best served in the normal, mundane fashion.

Oh, adn it is VERY disturbing how America has criminalized wet nursing. It is perfectly natural and it really pisses me off to see people treat women who want to give their babies natural breastmilk so looked down on when they are to be respected for their choice, not scorned for it.

It's fucked up that we can watch sex on tv, have mostlynaked women on billboards, talk dirty in public, etc...but let a woman try to discreetly breastfeed her in public. *Shames head in complete annoyance at people and their pettiness*

I want to know what women are supplying the milk. Do you think it is tested for anything that is contagious before it is turned into ice cream?

The answer to your question about disease appears to been given already on the previous page. I believe the answer to the question about the kind of women supplying the milk was covered in the article orignally linked to.

Interesting how the link in the first post doesn't mention that the milk has actually been pasteurised and they screen the milk beforehand. So it's not quite some backstreet joint... but personally, not for me. Cow's milk in ice cream is quite enough! :D

I find it very funny that people are so concerned about the diseases they might possibly get from breast milk ice cream. Granted, I am a little disgusted by the idea as well, but that something is appalling doesn't mean that it's going to make you sick per se. Besides, there's a lot of diseases you can catch off of animal products that I doubt most of the concerned people aren't considering each time they eat an egg or burger. So, I'd say suck it up and don't be a baby about it ;)
