Post Destini Beard
I met a girl today whose name was Destini Beard at a Renaissance Faire with her father whose an artist. She was a very sweet girl and we got along very well. When I left her father tent of art, I noticed she had some cds. So we got to talking about them. She said they were rather gothic (as she was into the scene a little) and sounded very surreal, so I decided to risk it and buy her cd.

I must say, I completely enjoyed it. I enjoyed it so much, in fact, that I wanted to share it with all of you as I doubt I will be the only one here at gnet who likes her music.

Listen to her song Awaken here

So what do you think of her?

Personally I love her music and I she is also a wonderful person, so that’s a plus!

(Oh and I am putting this under gothic, because the artist herself said it was gothic(ish). IF the mods/admins. Wish to move it, please do so with my apologizes.)

I really enjoyed the general sound (it seemed as if the music was coming from another place and time), and she has a very pretty voice. :D

Very nice... and I usually don't like listening to sopranos (probably jealousy on my part, but there we go, lol).

I've saved her MP3 download at Amazon UK and will see about getting it when payday rolls around... thanks Midi... I wish we had Ren Faires over here as I'd love to go to one :(

I like her fathers' artwork, too.

This is a wonderful piece. Have you also watched this?

You were certainly on safe territory, Midi, when you said "I enjoyed it so much, in fact, that I wanted to share it with all of you as I doubt I will be the only one here at gnet who likes her music." I, for one, will be studying it very closely; together with the introduction I had to Arcana a couple of weeks ago, this is one of the most significant items I've had brought to my attention here (it's a pleasant side product that this also introduces me to Midnight Syndicate, who I've certainly heard mention of on these boards before). Vocals like hers are exactly what my work is missing.

Thank you for this!

Thank you, Midi! She sounds great!

I'm a soprano and I love this kind of stuff. I hope one day to be able to make an ethereal CD. :)

Ha ha.

Sopranos are who brought me to the gothic subculture. Let me explain how.

I first got into metal because I asked a soprano in a choir I sing in if she knew any genres of music aside from Opera that featured the soprano range. I find most songs on the radio feature women singing in an alto or mezzo-soprano range, so it's not the best range for me to practice in. She introduced me to Within Temptation, Evanescence, Nightwish. Some Youtube comments described that type of music as goth music and of course you had the goth folks chiming in, "that's not goth, this is goth", and that's how I eventually found goth.

So all hail sopranos!

I am glad that you all liked her!

Minnie, I must admit that I was thinking of you when I made this thread as her music reminds me of yours.

I like her, but it's not something I'd listen to very often. Good stuff though.
