Re: Artists that you wish you'd gotten into earlier
The Cure... I heard a bit of their stuff around 2008 when they were touring for 4:13 Dream, but I was too young to really get into them. I regret not being into them during their tour. I'd probably cut off an arm to see them live.
Not my arm.
But, still...an arm.

Definitely Sopor Aeternus, and not just because Anna Varney was pen-pals with Rozz Williams for some time before he died ^^.

Have you listened to Ich Tote Mich? Excellent album to start with, I also recommend Es Reiten(die toten so schnell) and Todeswunsch. As with any band, the music eveolves, but it stays true to the original until Les Fluers Du Mal & Sanatorium Altrosa. I wouldn't say they are 'bad' albums, they are just a shock after listening to Sopor's other stuff. To hear happy music from her is....a little odd. The Goat is one of my favourite songs.

I shall check them out. I think the first song I clicked on was Dead Souls or something like that and I absolutely adored it. This just makes me think of bands that I have yet to discover that are just waiting for me to listen to them.

Re: Artists that you wish you'd gotten into earlier
I guess I'd say I'm a lot more fascinated with the post-punk, 80's dark-wave, industrial goth line of music. And it's even better to find a modern band who's influences also stem from these airs. Bands I've recently loved are London After Midnight (Kiss), Diva Destruction (Broken Ones), Skinny Puppy (Glass Out), & Zola Jesus (Devil Take You). Has anyone ever heard of Morfiouz? It's more industrial goth, some songs I like, and some not so much. Very much underground, just wondering if anyone else out there shares a common interest in "Morfiouz".

*sigh* Okay. Just now realized how great Nosferatu is (wish I had paid attention ot sgath's Last.fm chart sooner). I guess it's a good thing that on iTunes, you can now practically sample the half of the song's duration (instead of :30 seconds samples, they're 1:30 seconds).

Type O Negative. In my search for goth metal that was more on the lines of old school goth than the symphonic beauty/beast malarkey that genres would keep throwing out at me, I was shocked I overlooked these guys. It may have been a bad run-in with seeing Freddy vs Jason or something. I'd heard a few tracks before but it wasn't until later that they (and Peter Steele's voice) started to worm themselves into my brain.
