 First impressions.
The point of this thread is simple. What was your first impression of the other GNet members? Keep in mind, some first impressions may be negative. I really hope this thread won't be the cause of unneeded arguments and fighting.
If you're going to post something that's a little more negative, please say why you changed the way you think about other members.
Actually, just say what you originally thought and what you think now! It can be about any memeber, past or present.

 Re: First impressions.
I don't think it would be very nice to say something bad about a specific member. I will say that I was a lot more standoffish when I rejoined. The members and general atmosphere were a lot different than back in 2004 so I hesitated getting personally attached to the other members. It is just over the past few months, honestly, that I've become more comfortable with the people who joined around the same time as me, really.

 Re: First impressions.
I'd recently been on VampireFreaks, which was a horrible experience all round. I registered with gnet out of curiosity, but didn't post for a few days. As soon as I took a closer look, I realised that this was a forum I could definitely get along with; the subjects under discussion were intelligent and interesting. I wasn't sure, at first, whether it would be somewhere I could call "home", but now, 10 months later, I'm still here, still chomping at the bit - indeed, perhaps moreso than then, because with every newcomer arrives new opinions, new challenges, new ways to learn. And, indeed, potential new friends.
I love being a part of this forum, and although I underwent a self-inflicted period where I felt rather alienated, once I'd sorted myself out I found that there was never any need for that feeling. There was one time when I was a real bitch to people here; I've no desire to recall the incident in detail, but those who were affected have proven themselves to be endlessly forgiving, and the curious thing is, that out of it came many of my firmest friendships here.

I'm the eternal outsider, always on the periphery of the group. Its been interesting to be part of something where I'm not ignored.

 Re: First impressions.
I knew that until the people here got to know me (and I've hardly been here 2 months), I had to make sure that I didn't say anything particularly stupid and that my grammar, while not perfect, was decent enough to be lived with.
I've been on a few other goth forums in the past, with mixed results. There was this local one that I tried for a while; didn't fit in much there because the forum itself is misleading; it's just a social spot where people who have been friends for years gather. What I had thought, was that everybody pretty much met on the forum and then hung out for coffee at this one place where I lived. Not the case.
The other one was full of snark, plain and simple.
As for individuals here... I didn't really have any pre-conceptions about them. All I knew was that they, *presumably* were 'goth'. That's all.

 Re: First impressions.
Wolfie, I didn't start the thread to bash people. Ok, for example, you were one of the ones, based on reading your posts, that I kinda didn't want to piss off. You just seemed like you were quick to anger. But, I know you a little better and you're just freaking hilarious XD
But yea, I felt kinda intimidated when I joined too. There were quite a few post i read, like "Omg, these people are gonna hate me o.0"
But I'm happy that I've gotten more comfortable around a lot of you <3

 Re: First impressions.
The first time anyone here said anything to me (I actually still remember what it was too, lol) - or more appropriately, replied to something I said, it almost scared me away for a bit. Mostly because I was new and uber-sensitive and didn't really realize the sarcasm of this particular bunch o' people Then I realized, ok, this is like going swimming in an ice-cold pool of water. I just had to jump in and let that initial shock wear off, then everything was good.

 Re: First impressions.
All in all, I just thought this would be a good way for memebers to really connect with each other. i'd like to see where this leads.

I didn't really think I was missed, per se. I think I was just busy traveling and life got a bit hectic after that. Then y'all came onto FB when gnet was down and well... I realized how must I missed this place (and everyone here). DarklyInclined wrote: Letalis Senium wrote: I'm the eternal outsider, always on the periphery of the group. Re: First impressions.
Pillock of the community more like it! I don' think I have a deliberate "online" personality that is at variance with my face to face personality. I get the impression that people here do have a bit of a laugh and big up things, but you can often see through to the person. Coming here as a Goth God(-ess) will get you brought up in short order.
