Has anyone ever been to a cool goth club in Chicago? I've seen Blood_Rose's review on club Neo, so forget that one.

Also, what do you wear to clubs? This is going to be my first time at a club so i have no idea what to wear or expect. So if you can please help me that would be great!

Hey, I'm in the Chicago area.

I've heard of the Neo, but it doesn't seem to be as gothy as it used to be. They have events at various venues. For instance, Nocturna with DJ Scary Lady Sarah will be at the Metro (near Wrigleyville) the day after Thanksgiving if I'm not mistaken. Still trying to figure out if I can manage to find my way there that night. She was actually there the night I went to see Gary Numan as well, but it was also a work night.

I'd like to know this as well. After college I'm going to
move here, so I need to know where to hang around...

To the OP - how old are you? I took a look at your profile and it did not quite make sense with your occupation!

And I'm uber new to the goth scene to be honest. I'll have to look back on the emails a friend sent me many months ago (or just ask him again). Neo is the one that stands out in my head but it's not strictly a goth club (kinda in the sense the country bar up north isn't strictly country anymore).

Here's something that mentions the venue I was referring to in my last post (though it's actually the Smart Bar, the Metro is above it). These events are all 21+.

Here's another one my friend just told me about, called the Late Bar in Chicago, on Belmont just east of Central. They have Planet Earth on Saturday nights. It's not goth per se but might definitely be of interest to some.

I totally want to go one day. For the whole night. Of course I'd have to do some major sleeping in the morning before.

Haha, not quite from what I understand. It's a DJ that plays a myriad of dark music from the sounds of it.

Hmmm... You maybe misunderstand me slightly. I don't think there's anything desperately wrong with a bit of New Romantic stuff being chucked into the mix; at a goth night I attended recently the DJ played some of the more atmospheric material by the likes of Visage ("Fade to Grey") and Ultravox ("Herr X") and it sounded fine amidst the more goth and goth-friendly material. And, noticeably, the background pic used on the page you linked to is actually the sleeve photo from the "Fade to Grey" single.

So, I think it sounds as if they have a very eclectic, imaginative and fun play-list, and it makes it sound all the more interesting. If you go, I hope you'll report on it, and I also hope you have tons of fun!!

Gotcha. I will definitely have to let you know what it's like. I'm hoping I feel better next weekend, and might go then (since I'll be taking off the first Monday/Tuesday of December). I'd stay for the whole thing if I could handle staying up that late. But if I have a drink or two I'd have a reason to stay later as well (can't drink and drive now)
