 Gothic Rock 4
This is probably old news to many, but I've just discovered that the fourth volume in the "Gothic Rock" compilation series seems to be in the works. On Facebook, there's even a page dedicated to suggestions... Here's the link: http://www.facebook.com/GothicRock4But, why not have a bit of fun here and suggest what YOU'D like to see on it?

Sounds like a great idea! I loved your suggestion on Sopor. I would like to see Unto Ashes (but then again it's because I've recently just gotten really their music) on the list, but its highly doubtful

 Re: Gothic Rock 4
Awesome, I'd love to get this one. After all, I've learned my first bands from the previous 3...

 Re: Gothic Rock 4
Judging from the previous lists they seem to focus more on the "rock" side of things, so more ethereal bands like Sopor and the like might not be welcome. But then again, on the facebook page they do say darkwave...
I'd nominate Bestial Mouths or Mother of Fire, but they are likely both too weird...

 Re: Gothic Rock 4
The series has been dormant for a number of years, and there have been a number of developments since the last album was released. But, you're absolutely right; indeed the focus in the past was on the pioneers and early fellow-travellers. That said, volume 2 made an effort to try and cover some of the "newer" acts at the time of release, and also spread its net further afield than the first set, so volume 4 would - hopefully - follow a similar pattern. As to weirdness... Even at the time of Vol 1's original release (1992), the Sex Gang Children still seemed pretty "out there", so I don't think it's a bar to anybody appearing...

An older band who SHOULD have been on it: Monumentum.
I think Sopor's most goth era was up to Es Reiten...., so not exactly recent. I wouldn't suggest anything from her last 2 albums as any sort of introduction for new fans.
Maybe some Violet Stigmata or Deine Lakaien....

I don't understand how the facebook works? I didn't see a list on there. I think they've pretty much covered everything in the CDs that are already out.

 Re: Gothic Rock 4
Wolfie, are you having problems getting onto the page? Having taken another look at it, it mostly appears to be entries from spokespeople for bands hoping to get themselves included, and pundits. Here's an interesting entry: Martin Oldgoth wrote: Among them, in my opinion, would have to be Bloody Dead and Sexy, Fangs on Fur, Christ vs Warhol, Among the Weeds, Gotterdammerung. The Last Days of Jesus and New Days Delay. The way I see it, if a band have been around longer than this series, then they're probably not worth considering for volume 4.. (sorry!)

The last volume in the series is 12 years old now... That's a lot of time. I'm sure that a lot worth covering has happened since then...
