Post Re: Most goth song (for you)
Whenever I'm alone with you
You make me feel like I am home again
Whenever I'm alone with you
You make me feel like I am whole again
Whenever I'm alone with you
You make me feel like I am young again
Whenever I'm alone with you
You make me feel like I am fun again

However far away I will always love you
However long I stay I will always love you
Whatever words I say I will always love you
I will always love you

Whenever I'm alone with you
You make me feel like I am free again
Whenever I'm alone with you
You make me feel like I am clean again

However far away I will always love you
However long I stay I will always love you
Whatever words I say I will always love you
I will always love you

The Cure - Lullaby

I know it's kinda cliché but it was the first ever goth song I've heard when I was a 11 year old kid so it just became the definition of goth for me. :)

Beautiful Thorn..... original version with Anna's inhuman vocals!!!

That song always makes me imagine Anna transformed into some sort of giant humanoid butoh arachnid, moaning the song while strumming her web around her victim....

Now there is a great mental image! ^_^ Yes, the Ich Tote Mich version is the best. The music laid bare is just exquisite. Although I still love Es Reiten with the effects added, just not as much. Baptisma is another that I love from Ich.

The song I liked best on Es Reiten was "Dead Souls"..... the kind of song threads like this are made for. The building epic melody, the hopeless lyrics, the instrumentation.... not a sour moment on that song!!

That album's version of Beautiful Thorn is alright, but a completely different atmosphere and image.
That one makes me think of someone playing the song on some grand xylophone made of bones, while three witches sharing an eye chant over the fate of some hapless mortal. Either that or the Lucy scene from Bram Stoker's Dracula.

It'd be great to hear a studio version of that.

I don't know if this is the "most goth" song (for me), but this certainly gets my vote at least for today (tomorrow I'll have a new favorite):

Hayley Westenra: "Dark Waltz"

And the music compels me to pay homage to Hayley Westenra by anagramming her a gothic name:

Arahel Nytewyse
= Hayley Westenra

Arahel: feminine Sindarin (Elvish) name, meaning "royal/noble girl."

For me, it would be any song by My Dying Bride,
but these especially:
Sear Me
A Kiss To Remember
My Body, A Funeral
Black Heart Romance

I absolutely love this band <3

Hmm. I don't know about being most goth, but this was the first song that really made me want to find more dark music:

"Bloody Kisses (A Death In The Family)" by Type O Negative. I've cried to that on a few occasions.
